folks here rag on barkley for putting his foot in his mouth. who gives a rat's ass? he's not there for analysis - noone's claiming he's john hollinger. he's there for comic relief and he's one of the best in the business in that regard. kenny smith is incredible, those guys have great chemistry together, and you have to love the endless 90's references if you're a basketball junkie.

The last few years, mainly on national tv, both commentary and the pre-halftime and postgame shows have been terrible. These guys make such turrible mistakes it's not even funny. Barkley cannot pronounce anyone's name properly, Kenny is insightful at times but mainly goes with the flow of the nonsense and I can go on and on.

They are funny at times but mainly Barkley is just talking out of his ass and he means it. He's like Artest in a way. I cannot believe he disrespected Tracy with the 1st round stuff and they do not even give proper arguments why the Rockets cannot win the series.

I'm glad our home games are on ESPN & ABC so we will hear JVG and hopefully on ESPN we will have Hubie Brown. Their halftime shows are even worse but at least the commentary will be good. Doug Collins is okay but Reggie, Fratello & Carlesimo are too bad to listen to.

Will the games still be on My20 ?

I know that's why I watch MTV Tres, It's in spanish but they actually show music videos!

Seriously tinman, you were there in the 80s and 90s, now tell me you do not miss those times ? Tell me you do not miss the days when the TNT half-time show simply showed highlights and every episode another special guest who gave some insights on the games ?

Truth is, commentary and these so called inside shows have gone downhill faster than an avalanche in the last couple of years. When was the last time some1 outside of Hubie Brown and an occasional Doug Collins, you have heard something insightful during the game ?

With inside shows I know they're supposed trying to be funny but when you talk out of your ass, cannot even remember which team you are talking about, waste a halftime show talking about something irrelevant, it gets old.

I like humor but combined with some serious discussion and they have to competent. Kenny, Charles, Jalen Rose, Steven A Smith, Avery Johnson, Payton, Ahmad, Cheryl etc. are all terrible. Webber is the only one who in the right environment could be good.

Same goes for local commentary, for example Drexler, Worrell & Bullard. These guys have the same corny lines every single game, do not mention anything insightful about plays being run and such (except for Bullard occasionally). Every game they have these moments with either a Drexlerism or Worellism leading to a silence, complete ignoring of the other guy or Drexler saying: Yeah

I mean, it's funny but I'm looking for more than that. It's not that bad this year, because last year every game Bullard would talk about what types of food he had etc. Worrell would talk about the old days and make the biggest mistakes, mixing up players, games or even matchups. I know he's old but if it keeps occurring it's embarrassing.

Kenny had an insightful comment, in general about players, not specifically Rockets:

"The difference between an ok player & a good player, and a good player and a great player is decision making." (or something along those lines)

Barkley can't even complete a thought. I think it's all the twinkie foam filling his head. He still cracks me up & I was laughing so hard about them ragging on Ron & Ron ragging on Charles & the best player Ron has ever played being some guy back in his 'hood.

 

I agree mostly but Kenny Smith "incredible"? I find his analysis pretty useless most of the time.
