He is the coach and he should be the one telling his team continue going to Yao when he's dominating. When the team is not going to him...you should be telling them or call time out. He should get Scola out early knowing he can't defend Dirk. What did he do?? Continue playing Scola and allow the Mavs to get back into the game. Stupid! There is absolutely no incentive for having Scola in there. And the fact that he's not shooting well...why not take him out. Dumb no strategy coach.
3 coaching regimes numerous roster turnover and people still blame either the coach or the teammates yao is not mobile or athletic enough to catch a lob. doesn't matter who's the coach or who he plays with.
He like a r****ded stuttering kid wait until blow the lead to make any change. Got to anticipate not playing catch up game.
I like Rick but its boneheaded things like this that irritate me. We need a tougher coach and more defensive orientated (qualities JVG had, not saying I want him back), we someone like a Avery Johnson. If we miss the 2nd round again, I can see Rick getting the boot and Morey reshaping the team.
I watched the major part of 3rd quarter, from 14 points lead to draw. then I turned off the TV to play some car racing game. Frankly, it is much more entertaining than this game.
Dirt is scared of ghetto culture, you keep Artest on him and Dirt would've gone into his shell. We've seen it with Stephen Jackson, I'm sure Dirt still has nightmares.
you think we changed our game plan at half time? everyone and their moms know our first play is to go to yao. rockets tried but the mavs were doubling/fronting him every time.
Sorry, putting this one on your boy Yao and his inability to get in front of smaller defenders. He's just about the only player in the league that consistently cannot get around a front. It's on him.
this is true, but when yao gets fronted there is no plan B right now......the perimeter players just end up dribbling around running out the shotclock or jacking a low percentage shot.......why not run a P-n-R with the pg and one of the forwards instead
tough for it to be entirely on yao, when he doesn't even touch the ball the entire 2nd half. How bout talking about the boneheaded shots ron took when he had the chance to get the ball to yao.
The meltdown in Dallas could very well determine RA career in Houston. This game moved us from great chance to WCF to closer to another first round exit than anyone including me wants to admit. In one game, we lost the division championship, probably home court advantage, from from probable 2nd seed to probable 5th seed and the best path to the WCF. If the Rockets don't over achieve now in the playoffs, this could cost RA his job, regardless of who's fault it is that we lost to Dallas.
we just don't have the players to run a successful PnR. i started a thread called "remember the tmac/yao pick and roll" a few weeks ago but i can't search for it now. we discussed reasons why the current guards are unsuccessful with this play.
This is where the rockets miss an all out scorer....in those situations, someone has to make shots to force the defense to stay honest....if no one's making shots or attacking, i'd put 4 guys on yao and dare the rest of the team to make shots.
Amen. I was about to start this thread. That was some of the worst coaching I have ever seen. Was Adelman watching this game or snoozing? The Dirk/Scola decision was absolutely r****ded but the momentum shifted to Dallas' favor again when he kept Von on Josh Howard. Howard was doing nothing but once he got Von on him he started scoring and when the help came he started getting other people involved. Two very, very bad decisions especially when our best defenders are at the PF (Hayes) and SF/SG position (Artest and Battier). Horrible.
