Preferably on the southwest side of town.

I hurt my knee running last year. I don't know exactly what the problem is but I haven't been able to run since. I can't run more than 1/4 mile before it starts to hurt again. I don't think it's too terribly serious because I can walk and do everyday normal activities just fine. On days where I'm on my feet a lot, the knee might be sore the next day. Resting it hasn't helped. It's been a year since I've been able to run normally. I saw my family doctor about 6 months ago and he looked at it (not thoughoughly) but couldn't find any wrong and told me just to rest it. It's become apparant that it's not going to heal on it's own. I don't think it's going to need surgery either. But I need to know how to rehab it.

I would have taken care of it sooner but I had eye surgery in November and couldn't afford to take care of both things at once. I called my doctors office today to see if he could refer me to anybody. They wanted me to come in and I said BS because all he's going to do is look at my knee, not find anything because there's no pain unless I run, bill my insurance company, and then recommend somebody like I asked in the first place. I said screw that.

I can go on my insurance companies website and find a list of sports medicine specialists in my area but that doesn't tell me if they're any good or not. So I'm wondering if anybody here had positive personal experiences with sports medicine doctors and could recommend one. Again, I live in Alief so something on the southwest side or Sugar Land area is preferred.

Dr. Carl Hicks - he did my knee 2 years ago. He came highly recommended and all the physical therapists I saw afterwards raved about him. He has offices in Sugarland and another location closer to town.

Four locations and if it's a knee problem go see Dr. Timothy Sitter.

I highly recommend him. He did a great job on my knee and you can view his qualifications in the link above.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out and who you end up seeing.

Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas at Methodist Sugar Land. Shadowed them a few times in high school. Never really had the need to go to a sports medicine doctor, but apparently they had worked with Rockets players at the time.
