If there's a good deal out there that could land us an athletic and big PF/C or a starting quality PG, who would you guys choose if one of them would be included?
Scola is a keeper, but has higher value, thus will give us a better backup C (athletic). Trade Landry if needed.
Landry has played better as of late. Scola had a rough game today so I wouldn't expect this thread to want to keep him between the two at this moment.
Landry can do thing as a athelete scola can't dream about. He's younger and can get better. Scola has plateaued like I said last yr.
Scola can't seem to pass out. When he has his nights, he is unstoppable. When he can't buy a basket, he can be at the level of Kwame Brown. Not being able to grab rebounds, make open layups or shots. And he will ballhog his way to the rim.
id keep scola. he has a high bball iq that you just cant teach. if he's peaked already, then now isnt the best time to trade him as you try to get as much from him as you can. you can trade him in the future. landry on the other hand isnt unique. utah has milsap, boston has powe, etc. so you can trade him if it'll get you a very good PG or a good tall athletic 7" like javalee mcgee. all you'll have to do to make mcgee look like landry is to tell him to dunk that ball everytime. presto! a 7" landry.
it's not that he can't pass out, rather he chooses not to. when you're under the rim in a great scoring position, you put it up hoping it will go in or you get a foul. that's how he makes a lot of his shots. if he always passes up on that opportunity, he wont score except on wide open jumpers. when he's in that position, id tell him to shoot every single time instead of dishing it out. if you watch his game (like in the olympics), that's how he makes most of his shots. he's very good under the rim shooting it off the board.
We are good keep them both unless you bring CP3, Willians, etc. Ither than that our staring PG wont make T-Mac get healthier so it won't make a difference.
We already have an athletic PF and quality PG! It's not about getting a superstar at every position. It's about getting quality players who mesh well at every position.
a few years ago i suggested hayes for david lee but was shot down for suggesting lee was even near the player hayes was. i'm still up for such a trade
You kind of answered your own question there. If we get an athletic big man with a decent J, then that's pretty much a taller Landry, so you have to keep scola in that case. Other than that, i'd say keep Landry because he's been consistent. He's good for about 10 and 7 every game at least, with a good shooting %. Scola has his really great nights, but his really bad ones also, not to mention he's slow on D. Landry also always seems to either score or get to the line. Scola either scores or misses. Finally, landry is younger and athletic, and this team lacks athleticism big time.
