i was hitting the gym at least 3 times a week, either to work out or play some basketball. since Ike, i haven't gone back once. the only workouts i've done is cleaning up the debri in the yard. the 2 weeks without power seemed to have killed any inkling of motivation i had. i'm starting to feel lethargic and noticing a little bitch titness on me.
i told myself i would go today, but alas, i got "busy". i hope i don't come up with an excuse tomorrow.

Same thing happened to me, but to a lesser degree, I would say. I was hitting the gym religiously, about 4 times a week. When the storm hit I didn't go for a full week and since then I've only gone a couple of times a week. With Rockets starting up it's going to be even harder to find the time.

I've actually kind of gone the opposite direction. I joined a new gym not long before Ike and have increased my visits here lately. It helps that I finally got back into bball shape a bit and can play with some of the guys at the gym I attend.
macalu, if you don't maintain your shape and focus, Jean Claude Van Damme is TOTALLY going to own your ass the next time you run into him.

Ike and the financial situation make it pretty easy to slip into depression. I had it bad the couple of weeks after the storm, living in debris with no power and having our family beach house destroyed. I'm fairly well diversified in my own investments but my Mom's retirement account that I let the Edward D. Jones guy run has taken a huge hit so I kind of feel worse about that.
It feels like my world has changed from pretty easy to pretty problematic. I'm feeling a little better now that the fall work season has started. I don't make a lot of money at it but it feels proactive. If you can just force yourself to get started back at the gym, you will probably get re-invigorated; try berating yourself in front of a mirror.
This little brush with tragedy makes me wonder how people in the Sudan and Iraq etc. ever get out of bed. I guess hunger is a great motivator. Luckily I haven't ever been hungry.

Ike has shattered routines everywhere. You actually have to think about mundane tasks.

Just start getting up early to go to the gym at 5am in the mornings then you would have time.
I've been doing that 2-3 times a week for a few weeks. Man, it sure is hard! I am not a morning person at all. It's hard to go to bed before 10pm. I just figure that if I'm ever gonna really tone up, I have to work out in the mornings so I won't succumb to excuses when I get off work. "Oh I'm really tired, I'll do it tomorrow." "Oh, I have to go home and cook dinner" So on.
I don't know if Ike messed up any of my mundane tasks. It probably did for first few weeks but everything is back to normal. I love the fall season. COSTUME TIME!!!

Been the opposite for me as well... In the midst of Ike, after eating fast food for a week straight and gaining more fat, I decided to go on a diet and start working out at the UH Gym.
baby steps so far, but I've been doing pretty well for about 3 weeks.

I recently joined a privately owned gym called "Core Fitness" here in Spring.
The guy that owns it is a good guy and the membership is $20 bucks a month. It doesn't have the locker room that Lifetime (Willowbrook) has, but my house is across the street.
Anyway, I know what you mean. I haven't gone since Ike either, but I'm not going to put it on Ike. Ike is an easy target.
I'm going to start going tomorrow.
I promise.
