I thought that they were pretty good, some exciting things that the Chinese did. The fireworks looked like an outer space war zone...that's a compliment by the way.

Of course the entry of all the countries are interesting, yet the most boring part.

Btw, nice topic, but does it belong here? What does it have to do with the Rockets other than Yao Ming bringing in his country's flag?

It seems I'm in the minority, but the Opening Ceremonies disappointed my very high expectations. I was expecting the Chinese to put on the best Opening Ceremonies ever and in my opinion they feel short. The focus seemed to be too heavy on wowing us with the shear number of performers and less on the performance itself.

The show was completely ruined by way too many commercials. NBC sucks.

Obviously awe-inspiring, but just a tad too long for my taste.
I missed the opening ceremony so I had watch the rerun at 2:00 A.M. Of course what I mainly wanted to see was Yao carrying the torch, but at that point I could only stay up for so long, so I never to witness that part-hell I didn't even get through the first hour of that opening ceremony.

So how long was it anyways?

You are definitely in the minority, world opinion was the show was the most spectacular ever or as Bob Costas put it " as far as opening ceremonies go, you can retire the trophy". You appear to be an expert on opening ceremonies, which past ceremony do you think was better and why, may I ask?

300 million could have gone to a better cause, but i guess if you like fireworks..... then it was the best ever, not my thing though.

My favourite part is when the countries are being introduced. When I saw those two athletes from El Salvador walking with their heads up, not afraid of wearing a red pin, I threw my fist in the air and screamed viva la revolucion. Here is hoping that eva can bring the female weightlifting medal home, where it belongs.
