Right after Kerr said, "Griff, don't forget to make the pick," did one of their guys ask if he wanted to trade for Sessions or some other guy? Kerr's response was, "we'll talk about that later."
Seems Morey called about pick 48, and seems to have offered cash, Griffin said the got offers for future 2nds, and Morey declined to match, conversation over. Simultaneously, Kerr completed a trade for 45th Pick, Dragic, for 48th pick and futuer 2nd, and $250K. And everyone was happy about Dragic. So maybe there is someone between 48 and 54 that Morey wanted (more than Maarty Leunen)
Were the Spurs on the clock with their pick at the time? Sam Hinkie calls in Morey takes over. "...future second next year ...whole of it ... not really ...no ...thanks Daryl. End of call. Rockets were supposed to high on Richard Hendrix who was picked after the Suns #48. Then again Ante Tomic was selected right before the Spurs pick. Too hard to predict without knowing how early that call was made.
Griff looks so stressed out at times, would hate to be in that position taking all the phone calls. But it looks fun too.
At their draft party, Stern announces Robin Lopez as their pick, the fans throw out a chorus of boos. Then it cuts to Kerr telling the media "Obviously w'ere really excited to add Robin..."
I would love to see the Rockets war room video. Kind of interesting to see ALL the calls they received from offers from other teams. Would be cool to hear some of the offers we got in a couple nights ago.
Kupchak wants a foreign guy and Griffin tells him that "foreign guy" is gone. Tells Kupchak to call him back two picks later. The office ladies provide some commentary. After telling Griffin it's Hinkie on the line one says to the other "They think there's something at forty... why waste the money?" After the call ends, while watching the TV, they say "Patrick Ewing", "Patrick Ewing _junior!", "...43"
Would be cool but that wil NEVER EVER EVER happen as long as Daryl "KGB" Morey is in charge here. There would have been some footage they don't want the Spurs, the Blazers, and the Grizz to see, also.
Yeah it would be cool but it's best off being secret. I do bet the draft room was fully of sly smiles knowing they got the best of the other teams.
Man it would be interesting seeing some CF members in a War room. Aside from the armageddon they would cause the Rockets, it would be hilarious to watch. I can imagine Clutch going at it in the War room.. "what? did Griff say boobs and poop? Ok ban him for a week" jk Clutch "what? who did Colangelo offer? hmm.. offer useless without pics" "hmm this is a cleverly disguised racist offer!"
