I'm here working, "quietly" listening to the new CD, Holywood...pretty damn good IMO! So, I got a little distracted and decided to look up some "listener" reviews on Yahoo...man, there are some seriously bent individuals out there that are completely trashing him and his music but in the same breath admit they've never heard his music.

Does anyone here listen to his music?

I like the 70's glam sound of Mechanical Animals -- good disc IMO. Haven't heard the new one, but his older stuff that I've heard seems to be more screaming, which I can't get into. Is the new one closer to MA, or his old stuff?

Freak, it is pretty close to MA. I'd actually consider it a cross between MA and Antichrist Superstar.

Disposable Teens, Coma Black & Valentine's Day are a few of my favs on Holywood.

I haven't actually heard more than a sampling of his music, but I have heard him do a rather long interview where he talked for awhile about his issues with Christianity. I have no idea whether or not he's a good musician, but the impression I got from his interview is he's not a very intelligent guy. He behaved soberly and tried to sound educated, but it kind of reminded me of having a 14 year old trying to educate me on the true meaning of life. It may seem deep to other 14 year olds, but it ain't anything new to me, even if we forget for a moment about what's true.

Well, this is pop music, not rocket science after all. His pose is the same pose all rock musicians (for the most part) have. Even the "I am not a star" (can you say, "I am not a role model"?) pose is still a pose.

If scaring people or being controversial sells records, which of course it does, people are going to do it.

What I find hilarious about Marilyn Manson is that he acts all scary but he is really just some skinny ugly guy in makeup and leather pants. If he walked into a biker bar like that, he get the **** beat out of him.

lol. Ace, as I explained at the time, it was just a brain-lock that almost got my fingers amputated. If I was walking around that stupid 24 hours a day, there is no way I'd still be alive today.

Juan, I'm interested in where you saw this interview(please don't say MTV). I know Brian Warner has some "twisted" views on certain subjects such as Christianity, but from the few times I've heard him speak he sounded like a pretty intelligent individual.

Pimp, I heard it on National Public Radio. I was in Chicago at the time, but I don't know which studio recorded it and don't know if it ever played in Houston.

I don't remember the interview as well as I remember what I thought of him because of it. He considers himself an expert on Christianity because his father's a minister and he had a Christian upbringing. One fallacy I remember he promoted was the idea that Jesus never claims to be God, which is something I had believed for awhile as a teenager before I actually did some research (that is, actually read the Bible).

The other points from the interview I don't remember since it was a few years ago. I generally got the impression that he grew up in a very different (and may I say less intellectual?) Christian environment than the one I'm currently exposed to.
