Just letting you know Best Buy is doing the same deal. But I guess I'd rather have a $100 Wal-Mart gift card which I can use for gas.

there is also a 100 off 299 when you qualify for a sony CC too. so if you get the CC youc an buy the PS3 and get 100 back. on top of the GC you get if you buy from wal-mart.

Also another thing someone wrote up that might seem interesting is

    Buy 1 bundle @ 399 + 100GC
Buy another bundle with the 100GC you just received so you get the discount immediately. You should get another 100GC.
Return the 1st bundle and the 2nd GC you just got from the 2nd bundle.

Sounds like it should work. Dunno *shrugs*

forgot to say to use the sony CC if you qualify for it on the 2nd bundle and you should get 100 back Essentially a PS3 for 199 + tax? Even a PS3 for 299 + 100GC from wal-mart is pretty good.

Best Buy is doing this, too? I thought they weren't matching Wal-Mart's offer?

I did it without a problem. Walmart's savvy motivated personnel allowed me to with a little bit of patience.

Will this work at Wal-Mart? I've been sitting on a Sony credit card for a while waiting to use this bonus. I thought it was only from the Sony.com store.

Oh, and what's their return policy?

If I were to buy this for someone as a gift and keep the gift card for myself, would they be able to return the PS3 if they want something else?

I'm just going by what is in the slickdeals thread.

    http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=14050&t=711313&highlight=sony

Attn: Make sure you apply through the OP's link, otherwise you have to purchase from the SonyStyle store (B&M) or through SonyStyle.com to receive credit!

For those who have not received credit, it's possible you have applied through the wrong link here or here. These $100 credit promos, although similar, required more work and/or have more restrictions to be able to receive credit.

Confirmed it does NOT need to be a Sony Authorized Retailer and works on items other than a PS3!

** This card has visa's extended warranty service available. That gives 1 yr of free extra warranty coverage.**

*Still works, 31 May 08, got my $100 credit back after buying PS3 from amazon~faheyd
    *I bought a $300 visa giftcard from mydeluxecard.com for $305.95 shipped, $100 credit was issued 8 days later ~ridebmx
*I bought an iPod touch for $300 at Best Buy, and within 4 days a $100 statement credit was issued.
*I (and a few others) bought a $300 gift card at Amazon.com and received $100 statement credit within a few days. ~noyakopi
*got my credit using the card for broadway tickets ~tightA$$
*I bought breaks for my car from a dealership in another state. Statement even reflects Automotive Expense, I still recieved credit in 3 days.
    *I purchased $600 Amazon giftcard on 3/24. $100 credit posted 3/28. Awaiting 10K rewards points ~mikloyd
    * $301 at a Hotel on 3/19 .... charge posted 3/21... $100 credit posted 3/23. !!!!

Use this website for the $100 offer (same as OP) http://sonycard.sony.com/sonygateway/gateway.asp?offerlink=sonycardps3c100&PID=none&SPI D=B7RY&CELL=6064&MSC=&AFFID=&CLICK=&CID=&PROMO=DF0 1

Check status of your CC application at 888-338-2586 (Rafalski)

The terms and conditions also say you get 0% financing on ALL purchases over $299 within 45 days.

Got $100 credit after 3 days, so to clarify if you applied to sony card via the link posted by OP there is no need to do any rebates and $100 is credited automatically to your account.

To check your account statements, visit the Chase website at http://www.chase.com and sign up for the online access. It's free of charge!

To check on your Sony card points, visit the Sony card website at http://sonycard.sony.com

It seems that the best deal right now for us that pay high sales tax is amazon.com
here is simple way to get PS3 into your PICKS - 5% off in 2 minutes

    1) register NEW amazon.com account (only new email is required use your real name)
    2) rate PS3 controler and click "i own it" check box net to it (rating is located half way down the page right before customer reviews)
    3) click todays deals at the very top of the page and it should be there (worked for me very first time)
    4) pay with your new sony card
    5) done (whole thing took me 2 minutes)

    80gb PS3 math = $474.99-$100.00 = 374.99 + 5 free bluray movies, no tax and free shipping

To get ***40 GB**** in Gold Box for $379 (before -$100) I tried this and it worked perfectly,

    1. Created New Account
    2. Rated PS3 controller AND "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"
    3. Now I had 40 G PS3 in my Recommendations like 7 or 8th Item in addition to 60G and 80G
    4. Went to "Recommended for you" and said Not Interested for everything apart for 40 G
    5. Went to GB and Sure enough PS3 40G was there for $379.99! And promptly ordered!!

I called Chase and apparently my Sony card only gives me $100 off if I purchase at sonystyle.com. I'm brainstorming on how I can make this work. Any ideas?

EDIT- After some reading of the Slickdeals thread, if you do some smooth talking with a CSR, you may be able to get the $100 credited...the biggest rationale is a sonystyle store NOT being close to you. There is a sonystyle store in the Houston Galleria, but I'm in Galveston, so that's a good 100m ;) away.

Is this only the 40GB? I want a PS3 but, uhhh... no PS2 compatibility... I am skeptical about these offers... :(

If I could play all my 5 PS2 games, I'd be in heaven! ;)

I read on PS3forums that there might be PS2 BC coming in October. I mean if the 80GB can do it I don't see why the 40GB can't.

There are rumors that the 40GB PS3 will get a firmware update this fall to have backwards compatibility. Just a rumor for now though.
