http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/wal-mart-corporate-confirms-100-ps3-gift-card-yes-even-mgs/ This week only. Walmart is offering a $100 gift card towards the purchase of any blu-ray player. Not $100 worth of movies. This is a bad ass deal! Basically, $299 for a 40gb PS3. MGS4 Bundle is also eligible
Just letting you know Best Buy is doing the same deal. But I guess I'd rather have a $100 Wal-Mart gift card which I can use for gas.
there is also a 100 off 299 when you qualify for a sony CC too. so if you get the CC youc an buy the PS3 and get 100 back. on top of the GC you get if you buy from wal-mart. Also another thing someone wrote up that might seem interesting is Buy 1 bundle @ 399 + 100GC Buy another bundle with the 100GC you just received so you get the discount immediately. You should get another 100GC. Return the 1st bundle and the 2nd GC you just got from the 2nd bundle. Sounds like it should work. Dunno *shrugs*
forgot to say to use the sony CC if you qualify for it on the 2nd bundle and you should get 100 back Essentially a PS3 for 199 + tax? Even a PS3 for 299 + 100GC from wal-mart is pretty good.
I did it without a problem. Walmart's savvy motivated personnel allowed me to with a little bit of patience.
Will this work at Wal-Mart? I've been sitting on a Sony credit card for a while waiting to use this bonus. I thought it was only from the Sony.com store.
Oh, and what's their return policy? If I were to buy this for someone as a gift and keep the gift card for myself, would they be able to return the PS3 if they want something else?
I'm just going by what is in the slickdeals thread. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=14050&t=711313&highlight=sony Attn: Make sure you apply through the OP's link, otherwise you have to purchase from the SonyStyle store (B&M) or through SonyStyle.com to receive credit! I called Chase and apparently my Sony card only gives me $100 off if I purchase at sonystyle.com. I'm brainstorming on how I can make this work. Any ideas? EDIT- After some reading of the Slickdeals thread, if you do some smooth talking with a CSR, you may be able to get the $100 credited...the biggest rationale is a sonystyle store NOT being close to you. There is a sonystyle store in the Houston Galleria, but I'm in Galveston, so that's a good 100m away.
Is this only the 40GB? I want a PS3 but, uhhh... no PS2 compatibility... I am skeptical about these offers... If I could play all my 5 PS2 games, I'd be in heaven!
I read on PS3forums that there might be PS2 BC coming in October. I mean if the 80GB can do it I don't see why the 40GB can't.
There are rumors that the 40GB PS3 will get a firmware update this fall to have backwards compatibility. Just a rumor for now though.
