After lisening to it, I don't like the direction he has gone. It seems he just flows and flows. That's cool and all, but he doesn't have any hooks on the songs except for the singles.

All his beats are very raw and slow. When he raps, he just talks and talks and his "signature style" nasaly voice I think went a step too far.

Bad features, boring songs, no good hooks, and him just rambling on incoherently for an hour and a half.

I hate how he does his verses, you're right, he just flows random crap

    it goes like a rhyme
    blah blah blah dime
    cuz im the best
    the very good best
    tyrannosaurus rex???

He usually repeats the last word in his sentences twice...cause he runs out of random crap to rhyme.

It used to not be like that completely. He is very talented, he just needs to write some raps down every once in awhile.

He even says it on one of the songs. "I don't write sh-t down" or something like that.

No, its a lame style of flow that he learned from Dip set and Camron who used to do it all the time.

The funny thing is that i think Wayne was a better rapper as 14 yr old than he is now. I think he thinks that the catchy punchlines and overemphasis is what most people enjoy, unfortunately i think he's right cause most people do.

I think rap gets worse and worse as its demographic of listeners changes more and more.

excuse me its overemphasis on crack, seriously the guy was rich at what 10 or 11 why is he still dealing with stuff like this. I'm not questioning his credibility but more so his intelligence, he makes TI look smart.

The funny thing is all these rappers are making Kanye West look like a genius because he has flow and he can create a song about things other than killing, sex, crack, and money.

I thought Carter II and Like Father Like Son were both very well done. He had his style but didn't just say stupid **** the whole time.

SOMETIMES, he's fun to listen to.. and SOMETIMES, he puts out a really good song. But it's really hit or miss... it's either really good... or really bad. Also.. go back and listen to Lil Wayne with the Hot Boyz. Makes you think maybe somebody is ghostwriting for him.

    Co-sign.

He really needs to lay off the drugs though. You can tell its affecting his flow.

for one, he was really young during that time and its not hard to believe his style has changed.

... but yes Gillie da Kid was writing his recent rymes up until a year or two ago.

On "Brown Paper Bag" on Dj Khaled's newest cd, he is awesome. He just needs to be harnessed and not allowed to just go on and mumble.

I don't think he was all that great when he was younger.

anyway, the other rappers who he reminds me of, just trying to say some off the wall stuff that rhymes, ghost and raekwon

I'm a Weezy fan but I have to concede some of the OP's points. Wayne is destined to be the next syrup casualty.

Atleast he was funny and good to listen too (maybe i just didn't pay as much attention back then). I know he used to write most of the Big Tymers stuff and they were hilarious. They used to talk about the most vulgar stuff like it was everyday life, then they would go on this tangent about how much they ball. Saying stuff like "i got a platinum space shuttle on buttons...now how u luv dat".

But if those guys are the ones you would compare him to (wutang) then maybe that's why i don't like him as much anymore. I'm not a fan of fan of eastcoast rap unless its transcendant like Nas....or Pac. ;)

Exactly how I feel. It sounds more like a mixtape than an album. Honestly, hes nothing more than a punchline rapper. I like the beats but lyrically, its the same Weezy. There is no substance in his songs. All he does is brag on himself and throws some punchlines in here and there. Nothing special.

I liked the HotBoys alot, and I actually like Wayne to a certain extent. its just if you want to be taken seriously, you need to move beyond punchline status. wayne's popularity right now is just filling a void that jay-z has left imo, gangsta rapper with some substance. there really isn't anyone else taking the leap.

jay z filled the pac/biggie void/ pac followed cube,

no one is really following jay z. Everyone is following victim to sticking with the tired formula, oh well I guess if they are making a ton of money, what's motivating them to change?
