Who would you take at this point in their respective careers? We needed a thread to compete with the most excellent stromile vs kwame one...

I'd say its a tough call but with Pierce's free throw shooting and over all better shooting percentage, I'd probably have to go with him over Tracy.

Sorry Mac! You know I love you man ;)

Tracy is a better overall talent because of his passing ability.Pierce is a better shooter and can be a clutch player in tough situations. He probably is a better defender too. It's a tough poll but Pierce gets my vote.

Pierce couldnt even carry his team to the playoffs in the weak east. Yall would seriously rather have pierce than tmac? This team would be alot worse with pierce trying to make plays for people and score

Of course Tracy McGrady...Look what McGrady did last season, or even previous seasons playing without Yao and look what Pierce did without Allen and KG...

    The answer is again easy

Some people should seriously have their heads examined. Give Tmac teammates like KG and Ray Allen in the East and it would be over.

WTF did Paul Pierce do last year? Oh yeah, thats right....

Tracy.........Hes still one of the elites...........

Let tracy have 2 other superstars...........and even rondo........a point guard that dribbles to create.....taking the pressure of him to be the playmaker...

And add in it would be in the east.....

funny i almost disagree with everything you said, even it was a short post.

mcgrady technically is not "elite" any more. first class, yes. just not elite. well, not in my book anyway.

"2 other superstars"? kg, borderline. ray ray was never a SUPERstar.

and your rondo-rafer comparison is way off.

hahaha I again disagree... I really don't care about your book. I know McGrady is 0-7 in 1st rounds of the playoffs but it is not ONLY his fault. This season he didn't have healthly team, last year he and Yao hadn't had help and good coach...but yes of course it is his fault as well

And sorry but McGrady is elite, he is still one of the best guards in the NBA, he can carry the team, he can score everytime he wants, he can make his teammates better.

AGain, KS IS a superstar, this guy is one of the best pf in the nba. He can give you 20/10 every night. He can play superb defense.

I agree that Ray Allen is not and has never been a superstar but how do you call him? Star? Very good role player? This guy is one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA, he is pretty good scorer, guy capable of scoring 20 points every night (I know he has been struggling)

And the most important thing is that Celtics play in the East. Ok, maybe they do not have the best coach but they are in the east and the only team they can be afraid of is Detroit.

    It is a big DIFFERENCE

Put Tracy with Garnett and Allen, he'll probably average 10+ assists a game.

Mac easily. Pierce is shooter with only one move his step back, he flops just as bad as Ginobli. Mac does way more things on the court than Paul P.

Just think about how good the Celtics would be with T-Mac instead of Pierce.

Yeah T-Mac would average like 25pts 10asst and the Celtics would already be in the Finals right now.

T-Mac's better plus Pierce's entire offensive game when he's not pulling up is a borderline offensive foul. Everything from throwing his shoulder into you or using his elbow/forearm to create separation -- he uses one of these tactics practically everytime he drives to the basket and rarely gets called for it.

Sorry, that kind of bothers me.

    Mcgrady still.

Paul Pierce is more like on Scottie Pippen's level.

man... i know this is the rockets board, and some of you almost convinced me, but... get some better reasoning.

oh. look what paul pierce did last season in the WEAK EAST. wow... good reasoning and ryming words. maybe you should check the last orlando season for tmac. 21 wins. yea thats spectacular too.

oh. give tmac, kg and ray allen. TWO SUPERSTARS. ... yea right. one of them is basically a great great great great great X 10 role player. the other is just a shooter. yes we too would be in the semi finals, but this thread has nothing to do with paul pierce team. it has to do with paul. his skill set, not him teamates, record. and if you by that method, i guess tmac > Kobe huh? since if you give tmac odom and gasol he would average 10 assists.

now, tmac is the better player, but some of yall just make him sound he is ALOT better. not true at all. tmac is still a loser, and paul is a winner. paul in 2002 (or 2001) led a comeback for the celtics. they were down TWENTY ONE. 21 going into the fourth, and the celtics won because of paul pierce. now this was in the eastern finals.

come on, lets get real. tmac is better than paul pierce, but not by alot. paul pierce can actually make a wide open 3. tmac is the better defender and passer which gives him an edge. before you blurt out some random stuff, think. paul pierce having better teamates doesn't mean it makes him a worse player. paul pierce having the worst record in the east? so did tmac.

I'd take tmac in his prime over pierce but as of now I would have to go with the truth

McGrady is better. Makes his teammates better. But Pierce does everything we beg for from McGrady. He takes it to the basket strong and plays consistent defense.

You are crazy to take PP over Tmac, outright. Ignoring team related details, Tracy is more skilled AND more athletic.

I think PP is the better role player though. I don't think the Celtics would be better with Tmac, although it's tough to say whether or not the Rockets would be better with PP instead.
