NBA Radio was talking about Ray Allen's struggles and said it could be to his off court problems. http://news.bostonherald.com/news/n...g?articleid=1091314&srvc=home&position=recent Man gets 33 years in plot to murder Ray Allen’s stepfather By Associated Press Friday, May 2, 2008 - Updated 16d 23h ago EmailE-mail PrintablePrintable Comments(0) Comments LargerSmallerText size ShareShare Rate(0) Rate MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - A psychologist was sentenced today to 33 years in prison for conspiring to murder a fellow psychologist who is the stepfather of NBA star Ray Allen. Ernest Garlington, 39, of Southington, was convicted last year in a murder-for-hire plot against Derek Hopson, the ex-husband of Garlington’s wife.
I don't think this helps, obviously, but his main problem is that he's struggling to adjust to a more reduced role. They ran more plays for him during the regular season, against the Cavs he was an afterthought or bailout.
Makes sense. There's absolutely no reason why Ray Allen would struggle that badly. He is usually a big time player and much of shooting has to do with focus and confidence. He's shown absolutely no emotion and looks devastated out there almost like he doesn't care about basketball right now. Kinda like when there were rumors about Tmac's wife having an affair 2 years ago.
How old is Ray? His legs arn't as strong. Also I always think he has an attitude problem that he doesnt try hard enough in practice and give a damn to the game anymore.
It could also have something to do with that constant double on him, the Cavs seem to actually place him first on thier list of defensive priorities. Shift a guy over to make sure he never gets hot, then shift off later on in the game and watch as he misses off-rythym shots.
he's played well this year, his struggles started in the playoffs which started this month. which is also the month this off court issue started.

Umm...unlikely that the sentencing of the man who was allegedly plotting to kill his stepfather was the reason why. He's just struggled to get a good rhythm on his shot and it's not uncommon for players to lose confidence in their shooting when they go through slumps like this. I would reckon it's more of a psychological thing relating to his shooting slump, we've seen this before with our own players.
you mean its not tough when your mom and step dad are under the witness protection program or you have to hire bodyguards for them? it may affect your jumper.
From a basketball perspective, IMHO, RA's (oops, Ray Allen's) struggles relate directly to horrible spacing by C's in their O. It appears that all five guys could touch each other on every half-court possession. RA can be the on court RA for the Rox (again IMHO).
could be the amount of minutes he played this season catching up with him. he doesn't have the youngest legs anymore, and when a shooter's legs start to go, the shot follows.
It's all about minutes and touches. The Celtics have big 3 and how can you share the ball? It's obvious PP and KG are the focus of Celtics' offense. So, it's hard for Ray to get into rhythm. You dont have your rhythm for a few games then you start to lose conifdence. You lose your confidence then you are into a slump.
I think this off the court stuff has to be affecting Ray Allen. There is no other explanation for why he's played so poorly. In the Celts offense, there are plenty of opportunities for him. That isn't the problem. After he started slumping, he stopped looking for his shot and they had to go away from him. That all said, I still think he's one of the most overrated players in the NBA.
no, he is actually those better guys. he comes to practice early. link i don't know what's going on, but it could be him adjusting to the lower role. you could see paul pierce going iso alot, and kevin garnett getting some iso too. though, allen could... if he makes his shots. whatever he and sam cassel are doing, they better stop it.
IMO Ray Allen tries to look "pretty" too much when plays. He doesn't take on contact very well and is not very physical. Plus he's only 6'4-'65 and he's aging, he can't do as many acrobatic plays as he used to. George Karl was right when he coached him in Milwaukee, he said he called Ray "Barbie, b/c he likes to look to pretty" when he plays.
thanks for posting that tinman im confused though, for some reason i thought Denzel Washington was Ray Allen's stepdad.
He had the nicest stroke the NBA has ever seen...also the greatest shooter of our era. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h5p9wV2RuKA&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/h5p9wV2RuKA&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
