Just got off the phone with the League Office....ignore all the tie-breaking crap written because half of it is wrong. Just know that if the Rockets beat the Clippers tomorrow there is a 75% chance they are hosting a 1st round series. Don't ask why just accept these scenarios. Rockets win, San Antonio wins, Phoenix wins...Rockets vs Utah (Hou homecourt) Rockets win, Utah wins, Phoenix wins...Rockets vs Suns (Hou homecourt) Rockets win, Phoenix loses, San Antonio wins..Rockets vs Utah (Hou homecourt) The only scenario involving a Rockets win that does not give Houston home court, is if Phoenix loses at home to Portland and San Antonio loses to Utah. (Then Rockets vs San Antonio with Spurs homecourt)
Then we suck and don't deserve home court. Thanks, Matt. I was hoping DaDakota and the majority of this board was right about the home court breakdown.
Thanks, Matt, Dulles Vikings have to stick together!! http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showpost.php?p=3616450&postcount=5 Rox Win + Spurs Loss + Suns Loss = no HCA vs. Spurs Rox Win + Spurs Loss + Suns Win = HCA vs. Suns Rox Win + Spurs Win + Suns Loss = HCA vs. Jazz Rox Win + Spurs Win + Suns Win = HCA vs. Jazz Let's all hope for a Rox win and for Brandon Roy to not come back to haunt us by knocking off the Suns!!!
Pass on the pie and go back for some of your wife's pasta dinner. You've been a phenomenal addition to the BBS!! Thanks for all of your meticulous work, Scribo!
even though utah is a horrible road team, i just have a weird feeling that the spurs are gonna lose and screw us up... one of the times i hope i am wrong.
Thanks for the pass! You have no idea how glad I am to be wrong. It looks like it's team to rework the Order of Operations: 1) Pick Division winners and give them a top 4 seed. 2) Order the 5 teams that didn't win their division by record. Give the top team a top 4 seed. 3) Seed 1 - 4 based on record. 4) Award seeds 5 - 8 according to the order determined in step 2. That puts it #3 Jazz, #4 Suns, #5 Rockets, #6 Suns. This is good to know going forward if they keep the current seeding system.
Thanks for the clarification. I've been around a while but i've never really gotten the full story on Mattj. All I know is everytime he posts its likely inside info and a MUST read.
Afternoon SES, looks like everyone has been on the phone with their old Rockets pal Tim Frank. Well I guess I'll eat that pie too. I'm too groggy. This doesn't make any sense though, but I do like the madness. What's better: Rockets Suns or Rockets Jazz? hmmm... I was also dreaming that the Clippers beat the Hornets tonight. That would be awesome.
My head hurts from all the scenarios that have played out. At least we were right on the Hornets-Lakers-Rockets tie break. I am soooooooo glad to be wrong on this one. If you and Cannonball were in Seattle, I'd suggest grabbing a beer tonight.
Yeah, if you check the motivations, if the Spurs do lose (and the Rockets win), than they'll potentially get to avoid the Suns who have beat them the last two times they've faced off (94-87 and 96-79). So they have every reason to want to lose if they're trying to avoid Phoenix. However, if the Suns see the Spurs losing, they can "decide" if they'd rather play us without HCA or go ahead and knock off the Blazers and set-up a meeting with (w/ HCA) the Spurs who were probably the biggest reason the Suns traded for Shaq. IMO, the Spurs have to be hoping to see anyone BUT the Suns in the first round.
He's one of the local sports show hosts in Houston for 610 I think? There are a few sports stations out there nowadays but when I was in Htown I think it was only 610.
