To the Rockets team Game 1 vs Warriors – Yao’s overpower "If we could just get the ball in there to Yao Ming," Alston said, "we could have any shot we wanted." Game 2 vs Pacers – Rise of Rookies "When you have veterans on the team, you really don't pay attention to the rookies because they're not on the court that much," said Rockets guard Tracy McGrady, who finished with 19 points. "I didn't know he (Landry) could shoot the ball like he's been showing lately, and I didn't know he could finish the way he's finishing." Game 3 vs Bucks – More and More will notice "Two hundred million people watching -- that's when you've got to bring your 'A game,"' said Tracy McGrady, who led the Rockets with 33 points. "That's amazing that there's double the people watching a regular-season NBA game as the Super Bowl." Game 4 vs Wolves – Becoming a team "We had some hard times without Tracy this year, and I think those guys learned from that experience and improved so much," said Yao Ming, who had 16 points. Game 5 vs Cavaliers – Hunger "We got outworked on the boards and we got outworked on all the loose balls," Cleveland coach Mike Brown said. Game 6 vs Hawks - Concentration There wasn't ever a point where we lost our concentration," Rockets forward Shane Battier said. Game 7 vs Blazers - Survival "We're doing well and it looks like we're climbing the ladder at a fast pace," Alston said. "But we're slow-walking. The West is so good. We just have to continue to take care of what we take care of." Game 8 vs Kings – Good team creates luck "I had to come in and make a shot and I did," Novak said. "It was fortunate that I did." Game 9 vs Cavaliers -Momentum "We don't want to get tired of winning," said Tracy McGrady, who added 17 points on just 6-of-21 shooting. "A lot of people probably thought the break would be bad for us because we had so much momentum, so much swagger. But everybody came back and we said, 'Let's start it off right."' Game 10 vs Heat – Addition and Subtraction "Everything happens for a reason and we've got to understand that this is a business," Carl Landry said. "We've got to be positive about the situation(Trade) and try to go on and continue the winning streak." Game 11 vs Hornets –Prelude to a greater statement "We talked about making a statement," said Rockets coach Rick Adelman, whose team also set a franchise record with 10 consecutive road victories. "We feel we're playing as well as anybody in the league right now and we want to show that we can continue to do that by playing the best teams and getting the win." Game 12 vs Bulls – Chemistry "I said: 'What you did in Sacramento,'" Adelman said. "He (Jackson) brings energy to the game on both ends of the court. I thought he really did that." Game 13 vs Wizards – Mountain behind the Great Wall "I believe I set the tempo early and everybody just followed," Mutombo said. Game 14 vs Grizzlies – A better analyst "They might run into a tough stretch of games, but there is no reason not to expect they can keep this going without Yao," coach Marc Iavaroni said. "This is a very good team with a lot of weapons and they are playing at the top of their game." Game 15 vs Nuggets – People Still don’t get it "I think we will learn from this game and we will be a better team because of this game," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "We're going to have to be." Game 16 vs Pacers -Snowball "They are a really good basketball team and we didn't have it," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said. "McGrady got them started and then their momentum became a snowball effect. They are a better basketball team by a large margin." Game 17 vs Mavericks – Trust "There is just a real confidence about the way they're playing," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "There's a trust in each other and it's just a pleasure to see. As a coach, it's just fun to watch a group of guys come together like they have and maintain this over such a period of time." Game 18 vs Hornets – They don’t care "Honestly, we're just happy to be winning games and trying to climb into the playoff race," said Shane Battier, who hit two 3-pointers and grabbed 10 rebounds. "At this point, the numbers are a little academic. That's not what's important, that's not what's driving us now. We're striving to play good basketball and that's the focus of the team right now." Game 19 vs Nets – History is coming "You know what?" Adelman said. "Everybody in this league plays the same schedule. If it's that easy, why hasn't somebody else done it? I don't see the problem saying, 'You know? That's pretty remarkable what they've done.'" Game 20 vs Hawks – Inner beauty “We just didn’t make shots,” McGrady said. “We felt confident in the fourth quarter our defense will get stops and we’ll do a better job, a great job of executing on the offensive end.” Game 21 vs Bobcats – Cherish the moment "This is pretty remarkable," McGrady said. "I'll always remember this. I'm definitely cherishing this moment." Game 22 vs Lakers – Guys. Let’s have a beer "There's no one tougher to guard in the league," said Battier, who added 14 points to his defense of Bryant. "LeBron (James) is up there, but chasing that guy (Bryant) around, you want a Budweiser or two after the game, because you've earned it."
To me Game 1 and Game 22 also are very good Game 1 shows us we can beat the small ball team with Yao Game 22 is the classic example of our non-stars. Unfortunately, Landry is not in this game.
Game 23 vs Celtics - Game Zero "It was a great run. The team really went out and laid everything out on the basketball court night in, night out. We did it together as a team. We're in the history books. But we don't want to look back on it. We want to start another streak." I hope there will a 16 games streak in playoffs
whooo hooo! Fantastic idea and very good thread. This was something none of us will forget. Bring on the next streak
Thanks for the effort in putting that together. It is for threads like this that I come to this message board! Unfortunately, most of them are threads whining about McGrady or some lack of respect. Threads like this allows us to cherish the moments.
i reread it today... that was a great quote by you: "A mountain behind the Great Wall" that pretty much sums up our season
What Tracy said after game 9 is what he needs to be saying today. Game 9 vs Cavaliers -Momentum "We don't want to get tired of winning," said Tracy McGrady, who added 17 points on just 6-of-21 shooting. "A lot of people probably thought the break would be bad for us because we had so much momentum, so much swagger. But everybody came back and we said, 'Let's start it off right."' Start tonight off right with a win!!
