Looking for some quick 30 minutes or less recipes that we can all use to please a significant other.

I've learned that as much as I like to cook, it's never as much fun unless someone else is there to enjoy it, and I've also learned that I don't care who I get the kudos from.

Primarily, I, personally, am looking for non-breaded entries (don't ask) but, we need a good breakfast recipe thread in here for anyone.

And, BTW, to the ones who say they "can't cook", I thought the same thing myself a few years ago. Attempt the few first times on your own at your parents kitchen, where they are the culprits, and typically they'll let you know what you did wrong. If your parents sucked at cooking, I've got nothing for you...

Easiest recipe I have is breakfast tacos.

In this one I just dice raw potatoes as thinly as possible. And then I throw them in a skillet. I throw Tony Chaccherres cajun seasoning on them, and then I add one of those Jimmy Dean Breakfast sausage packages in one dollop at a time.

You truly don't need to add eggs, but I would scramble eggs in a different skillet rather than add it to the one being used.

Another sharp piece of advice is to warm the flour tortillas you are serving them in. If you choose the microwave, put wet paper towels between them. Personally, I prefer warming them on an unbuttered, plain skillet on the stove.

I'll put my Benedict recipe on in a bit, but I've already committed to making breakfast in 9 hours. Any new ideas will be rewarded.

This is VERY simple and VERY pedestrian.

one pound of Jimmy Dean hot sausage, browned and broken up in a skillet like taco meat (instead of fried into patties).

    several eggs, scrambled

    shredded cheddar

    your favorite taco/hot/picante/salsa sauce

HARD corn tortilla taco shells (if you are buying the store bought version and not frying your own, make sure you follow the directions and reheat them in the oven to freshen them up)

    Asssemble into tacos and eat.

    ___________

I'm almost embarrassed to discuss a recipe that seems SO trailer-park-appropriate, but I just don't know anyone else who makes breakfast tacos with hard shell corn tortillas, and everyone I make these for always loves them.

    Brown some taters.
    Cook some bacon.
    Cook some more bacon.
    Dice some peppers.
Dice some other veggie... tomato or onion or whatever.
    Grate some cheese.
    Grate some more cheese.
Cook some sausage in little bits.
Throw it all in with 6 or more eggs.
    Season to taste.
    Serve with toast and OJ.

BTW, has anyone else had coddled eggs before?

I grew up with them and loved them.

The problem is, you have to have a specific vehicle to do a coddled egg in, and I shattered both of mine in college.

Anyone know how to half-ass it without the specific coddling device?

I don't mean to be cultural, but rice and breakfast = Eww!

I've even had sugared rice. I guess puffed rice has been in our psychy, but I relegate rice to dinner.

scrambled egg/s. 2 tablespoons of cream per egg, several splashes of tabasco.

beat until frothy then pour into hot pan and fold with fork. don't overcook, it's ready when still a little wet looking.

serve with toasted baguette slices or just normal toast and smoked salmon.

Well I can eat rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and sometimes for snack so it's no biggie for me to eat it at breakfast. The rice is just normal sticky white rice. Cooked with a few strips of bacon and eggs either scrambled, over easy, sunny side up whatever you like. It sounds weird and budget but I like it.

As for breakfast American style you can't go wrong with an omelet. I'm sure being the culinary master you are you can make a better omelet than I.... anyway here is my version Chop green peppers, red peppers, onions, ham. Heat olive oil in frying pan . Sautee those ingredients for a few mins. Put cooked items into another bowl and add 4 eggs (I take out the yolk of 2) and add shredded cheese of your choice and mix lightly. Re-heat frying pan with light olive oil added again and pour your mix. heat, flip and shape your omelet. Enjoy.

If you have a Belgian waffle maker. Make her belgian waffles topped with whipped cream and fresh berries. She HAS to love that. If you don't have a Belgian waffle maker.... might be a good investment for her and or future broads.

What kind of rice do you use? Steamed, Asian style rice is something that goes with every single meal, in my opinion, while Uncle Ben's stovetop rice is inedible...

Here's three dishes I tend to make on the weekends when I'm not eating cereal/bagels/toast.

    Loco Moco:

Bed of white, sticky rice + Pan-fried, homemade ground beef/turkey burger patty, + 1-2 over easy eggs on top of that, and gravy over the whole thing. Break the yolks of the eggs and make sure everything gets mixed together. You can replace the patty with corned beef hash if you want, then it's just hash and eggs, though.

    Fried Rice:

Make some sticky rice the day before, and keep it in the fridge (day old rice is critical here). Grease a pan, dump the rice in with 2-3 eggs, and any kind of breakfast meat you want ( I personally use bacon or sausage), with some shoyu...err...soy sauce, to taste. Be sure to keep mixing everything together, and break up the clumps of rice. I personally like to chop up some green onion/scallion for color and freshness of taste.

    Oyako-Donburi:

1-2 cups fresh steamed white rice (cook it as you're doing the rest)
In a small saucepan, take some sliced yellow onion and shiitake mushroom and cook them until the onion becomes translucent; then add in about 2-3 oz. per person of sliced chicken breast, seasoned to taste, and cook until done. Then add in a beaten egg mixed with a touch of cream (per person), topped off with some sliced snow peas and green onion; leave the heat on until the egg is done; I like to leave it on the fairly wet side; the steaming hot rice will cook it through further. Your rice should be done at this point; so spread your vegetable/chicken/egg mixture over the rice, and top off with a sugar-soy sauce mixture (I tend to use a 2-1 ratio of soy sauce to sugar, with a dash of tabasco for some kick).

VooDoo's Spicy sausage gravy and biscuits

    med sized skillet
    medium high heat
1/2 lb spicy sausage browned like hamburger meat
    drain excess grease
Sprinkle in flour until sausage is clumpy (approx 1 cup)
add milk until sausage/flour mixture floats
simmer until gravy reduces and thickens
    Salt and pepper to taste
    serve with biscuits

    Voodoo's 2nd chance breakfast potatos

2 left over baked potatos from the night before
    slice into 1/2" thick "wheels"
1 tbsp butter melted over med heat
Cajun spice added to melted butter
add single layer of potatos and brown on both sides
repeat until all potatos are cooked
(note: you may have to add more butter right before fliping potatos to keep from sticking to pan)

This one is quick and easy. My wife and I have this when we are in a hurry.

1 package Jimmy Dean Sausage (whatever style you like)
    1 Package Philly Cream Cheese
1 Pizza Crust in a can (One of those Pillsbury dough things you find where they sell canned biscuits)

Grease a cookie sheet and preheat the oven according to the pizza crust packaging
    Brown Sausage and drain grease
While sausage is browning cut cream cheese into small cubes
When sausage is finished combine in a bowl with cream cheese
Stir until it is mixed thoroughly
Open Pizza dough and lay flat onto cookie sheet
Spoon Sausage and cheese mixture into center of dough
Wrap sides of dough towards the center and seal closed by pinching
    seal ends as well
Bake until crust is brown (I usually start with whatthe pizza crust directions say for cook time, but it seems to take a little longer in my oven. I also put it on the bottom shelf for a few minutes to make sure the bottom is cooked well enough.)
    Cut and eat

It is good for keeping in the fridge too. You can pull it out, cut what you want and microwave it. I u

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but since it's a breakfast thread...

Anyone have any personal recommendations for OJ brands?

I've drank Minute Maid since I was a kid, and have recently started drinking it more often, and was wondering if there was anything else out there worth trying.
