no doubt, some folks who support the troops are responsible.

[rquoter] NEW YORK (CNN) -- New York police said a small explosion outside a military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday caused minor damage.

New York bomb squad officers inspect the street in front of a Times Square military office that was damaged.

The explosion occurred around at 3:45 a.m. There were no reported injuries.

Two witnesses, a man and a woman, told a local TV station they heard a "huge bang" from their hotel rooms, but there were no police or fire reports of serious damage or injuries.

"I was on the 44th floor and I heard it. I could feel it from up there," a woman told WABC-TV. Video Watch what witnesses say »

Police and fire squads initially cordoned off part of an area around Times Square. Later, all vehicular traffic resumed in the area, but pedestrian traffic was restricted on 43rd and 44th streets, local media reported.

Subway service to Times Square was briefly halted but resumed in time for the morning rush hour.

The recruiting office, whose neon lights help it blend in with the bright atmosphere of Times Square, has been the site of periodic anti-war protests, The Associated Press reported.

The FBI said the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force "is on scene working with" New York police.

"They will gather evidence, conduct interviews and begin the investigation. Anyone with information is requested to call the FBI or NYPD," an FBI spokesperson said. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend[/rquoter]

That is disgusting. Glad to hear that it sounds like everybody is OK and the cowards' bomb didn't do much damage

still under investigation, but would this qualify as a terrorist attack?

Technically anytime someone plants a bomb and sets it off, it can be considered a terrorist attack. I doubt the media will care though since no one got injured.

And BTW, we've had what could be argued as Islamic terrorist attacks in this country in the last couple years. The incident on a college campus with a Muslim running over people with his car. The shooting incident at a Jewish center(I think that was in Seattle). And that mall shooting last year. The media tends to bury these stories though.

Just because a bomb isn't involved, doesn't mean it ain't terrorism.

What are you basing your insinuation on? The article says this is similar to 2 bombing incidents in 2005 in NYC at the British and Mexican consulates. Similar device used in all 3 and they were looking for a man on a bicycle back then as well.

Your divisive demagogy never fails to disgust me. You care nothing for the troops, except as some GI Joe cartoon caricature instrument in your masturbatory fantasies of a neocon Pax Americana.

You care about as much for the wellbeing of the troops as a horse racing junkie actually cares about the horses who are racing - you care about them as long as they provide you rousing entertainment. Once the race is over, you couldn't care less if someone takes the horse out back and shoots it in the head. But because the race excites you, you try and claim that you love horses.

You are the one who is duplicitous when proclaiming great concern for the troops. The irony of your political rants is stupendous.

This is a quote from your linked story:
This is no doubt the work of some right-wing zealot who voted for Bush and is a big supporter of the GOP. Clearly, they are upset at the illegals storming our borders and meant to send a message to Mexico to keep their people home. Likewise, you can clearly attribute motive to the other bombing by recognizing that only right-wing nutjobs would bomb the British because of their less than total commitment to the Iraq War. This current bombing of the recruitment office was obviously another manifestation of the funeral protests from right-wing gay-hating losers.

basso, why do you associate with these people who hate America and think the only way to solve a problem is through violence?

(See how easy that was? If I was stupid, I might even find fun in it.)

[rquoter]To say that it is violent to destroy the machinery of a slaughterhouse or to break windows belonging to a party that promotes war is to prioritize property over human and animal life. This objection subtly validates violence against living creatures by focusing all attention on property rights and away from more fundamental issues.[/rquoter]

Additionally, borrowing a page from U.S. foreign policy, I decided to send a message to a government that was becoming increasingly hostile.

Bombing the Murrah Federal Building was morally and strategically equivalent to the U.S. hitting a government building in Serbia, Iraq, or other nations.

    some interesting additional background.

[rquoter]8 House Dems get letters, photo of New York recruiting station before bombing

Eight House Democrats were mailed a letter and photo of a Times Square recruiting station in Manhattan before it was bombed this morning, according to House insiders.

UPDATE: A House aide suggested many more members could have received the letter and suggested law enforcement officials do not know the full scope of how many missives were actually sent.

The letter did not contain any specific threats against the lawmakers or the site, but the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI are now investigating the matter.

It was unclear which lawmakers received the letters, but House aides confirmed they were all Democrats. The letter was postmarked Feb. 28, a week before the explosion in New York.

The New York Times is reporting that the "improvised explosive device" used in the attack "was 'roughly similar”' to the devices used in two earlier bombings at foreign consulates in Manhattan in 2005 and 2007.

UPDATE: The letters and pictures went to Democrats representing New York City-based congressional districts, according to House sources. It's unclear whether Democratic Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer received similar letters.[/rquoter]

Waxing eloquent doth not a politico make you... or something.

So, let me get this straight...

People that bomb recruiting locations really love the troops?

The sense of elitist superiority of some is more disturbing than a known GOP fan boy stating the obvious.

Since you haven't spent much time posting in here the last couple of years I'll just assume that you don't understand what is going on here.

Basso is fond of saying that everybody who doesn't support George Bush's eternal Iraqi war doesn't support the troops. Republicans, Democrats, whoever. If you express doubt about the quagmire in Iraq, he pulls the mocking 'support the troops' card.

So in effect, by revisiting that phrase here, he is accusing me of being one of these people. If I don't support the war, then I hate the troops and might as well be out bombing recruiting stations. I know beyond a doubt that I care more for the wellbeing of American troops than basso, or T_J or bigtexxx, who have all shown elitist contempt for the 'peons' who choose to enlist.

He has made a habit of inserting these snide little snipes when he posts these long articles. I think he believes he can slip it under the radar if he is subtle enough. I don't particularly care for people who try aren't plain in saying what they intend. I don't care for jingoistic divisive hatemongers. I can ignore one of the two, such as when T_J spouts off. But the combination of the two in one person is too much to bear. If basso wants to accuse me of being a terrorist because I don't want to get Americans killed banging our heads against a wall in Iraq, he can go **** himself.

i was accusing the people who bombed the recruiting station of being terrorists, so unless you were one of them, i'm not sure why you took the post so personally.

but then, if the foo ****s...

It should be obvious to all that these people don't support the troops. So when you include the phrase "support the troops" you are referencing something else. There is only one thing that this can be. At least have the decency to admit what you imply when confronted with it.

Also basso: no doubt, some folks who support the troops are responsible.

So you believe terrorists support the troops now?
