    "Flip" flopped.

The Clippers were set to sign veteran guard Ronald "Flip" Murray for a prorated cost of the veteran's minimum of $1.2 million after buying out Sam Cassell, but Murray had a late change of heart.

He instead signed Saturday with the Indiana Pacers, leaving the Clippers scrambling.

Cassell is set to sign with the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers Monday, a formality at this point. The Clippers signed Andre Barrett to a 10-day contract but do not have a point guard taller than Dan Dickau,at 6 feet, on the roster.

"It was a tough decision," Murray told reporters in Indiana. "We were almost there, then a call came from [Indiana] causing a change of plans real quick. My agent told me [Friday] the Pacers were interested. I was supposed to fly to L.A."

The change of heart left the Clippers irate because they had reached a tentative deal with Murray and Mark Termini, his agent.

Murray, a second-round pick by Milwaukee in 2002 from Division II Shaw University, made a name for himself while subbing for Ray Allen at the start of the 2003-04 season in Seattle. In those 13 games, he averaged 20.2 points. Murray was recently waived by the Detroit Pistons.

Barrett, who attended Seton Hall, last played in the NBA in 2006-07, a six-game stint with the Chicago Bulls. Barrett spent this season in the development league between the Austin Toros and Bakersfield Jam.

Forward Tim Thomas sat out because of a strained left groin suffered in Friday's game.

Looks like he's got a shot at a 10 day contract hope he makes it.
