    I'm hoping it's hype, but I doubt it. The older I get the less I like storms.

    Severe weather coming

    A prudent person might want to rethink any outdoor plans for Saturday afternoon.

    Forecasters say a formidable storm should move across Southeast Texas this afternoon and evening, bringing thunderstorms, isolated tornadoes and possibly some hail.

    "The system will move through the area with great force," said Patrick Blood, a forecaster with the Houston/Galveston office of the National Weather Service.

    The squall line of thunderstorms should move fairly quickly across the region, so most areas should see only 1 to 2 inches of rain, with isolated totals of up to 4 nches.

    An approaching front should create these storms by sparking the moist and unstable atmosphere, he said.

    As a result, the thunderstorms could produce frequent lightning and possibly even tornadoes. Wind speeds could exceed 30 mph, with higher gusts in isolated areas.

    Forecasters said the threat of hazardous weather should abate by early Sunday, after which the front will pass through and bring lower temperatures to the area.

    Highs on Sunday and Presidents Day should reach the mid-60s, with overnight lows near 40, temperatures typical for this time of year. Skies should be clear.

    Folks on The Weather Channel said that Saturday could go down in history as one of the worst days in February Texas history so we'll see.

    Sounds like they miss Hurricane season, too.

    Hmmm. Y'all will have it worse in Houston - I'm in S.A. which is supposed to be the edge of it - but I'm about to go downtown to this huge music convention and I'm still hoping that's wise. Kind of hard to have 20,000 people sit in the bathrooms when there are tornadoes in the area. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I heard my mom's stories from Tennessee a few weeks ago.
