http://www.acer.com.ph/notebook.php?pkey=73 Those are the specs. I was thinking what I was going to do with the 160 GB? Anyone know any useful programs so I can fill all that space? Take note: I am a future engineer, any program that can help me learn more about my job can help. My internet use of it will be sparse. So dling movies will really not be an option. Aside from useful and essential, I am also looking for interesting programs. As for games, I am already planning on buying pirated Bioshock and Guitar Hero 3. Thanks.
I would think as an engineer you would use AutoCad at some point. Since you like pirated stuff, you can find this on the torrents easily. Its more than a full gig file usually.
Essential installations: Firefox AVG Free Adaware Spybot S&D Syncback VLC Media Player Also try Open Office as a a Microsoft Office replacement - it is free, as are all of the above!
Ditto that. Also, I hope Acer has improved the quality of their screens. All I ever hear about Acer is people complaining about how dark their screens are. As far as programs... well, I hope you use Firefox. I'm also a big fan of DVD Shrink, Winamp, Nero, and Photoshop. Most of those are more about personal preference than anything, though.
i'm fairly certain the type of engineer you're going to be and what year of school you're in is important.. autocad (among many other common pieces of software) isn't used by every engineering discipline
You need 2GB of RAM to run Vista. Running it on 1GB will crawl. Essentials: Anti-Vir Firefox AdAware Spybot Winamp
Bare Essentials: Firefox and Thunderbird ZoneAlarm Suite Adware FreeRam Pidgin (IM) Vista Codecs (Xvid, Matroska etc...) Azureus (download pirated games and apps) Stuff for engineers: AutoCAD or drafting software Google Sketchup (if your are beginner and just want some practice on free software) Oh yeah and plenty of porno for the good times!!!
Movies (to waste some space and to keep): Azureus for downloading them DvdFlick to make Divx, MPEG, WMV and AVI files to viewable DVDs DvdShrink to rip movies DvdDecrypter to record/save ISOs from/to movies or to extract chapters Super to change any video format to any other format and iPod movie format Yeah, I've been a rippin' fool lately.
One, buy a small wireless mouse similar to this: Microsoft Notebook Mouse I'm not necessarily recommending the above mouse (just listing it as an example); just a small wireless mouse that fits into your laptop case or backpack. Two, buy a laptop case or backpack. Another example (not a recommendation as I haven't used this particular model!): Computer Backpack
Exactly UTorrent is the best torrent d/l program I know of because of it's small footprint.. But here go to this website to get you started. Filehippo.com Probably the best website that I know of with everything listed for beginners.
