What McGrady and Yao actually said!

"The team has more confidence playing without T-Mac right now," center Yao Ming said. "It doesn't mean we don't need him. When you are missing him, you still have to go play. We struggled before, but I think we found a way to play without him right now. We're just waiting for him to come back. We'll be even better."

The trick, it would seem, will be to introduce McGrady back into the mix. The Rockets insist the changes in their style actually began last month before he was hurt, but they clearly have taken hold since.

McGrady, however, has scoffed at the notion he will have to adjust, saying that the more balanced scoring will make his job easier.

"Why would I adjust? Nothing has really changed," McGrady said. "Those guys are making shots, and there is a lot more ball movement. They got to make up for 23 points. I tell them, don't look for me on the offensive end," McGrady said. "Myself and Yao, we're going to get the ball and make plays and make shots. You guys stay aggressive.

"It is something positive that came out of this. Guys gained confidence. They gained a rhythm. They are playing well. Hopefully, I don't come back and ruin that."

I dont know why you guys are sweating McGrady so much, saying he wants the team to lose, bull**** he didnt lose 15 pounds this off-season for nothing, just wait till T-Mac gets integrated into the offense, we'll look better than we did with Van Grumpy.

He obviously does not want to ruin this team's chemistry, so if he does get on the court and sees that the team did start struggling b/c of him then i guarantee you he will do everything he can to adjust to make the team better.

I forgot what year it was when Hakeem got hurt, and the team rallied and played really well without him. They had good chemistry and realized they didn't need to rely on Hakeem so much.

But trading him would have been dumb. (understatement)

I just saw a Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady commercial. They were both watching Charles and Kenny talking in a NBA broadcast show. And they were discussing about Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady is one of the most dynamic combo in the NBA today. But which one is rubbing off of each other more?

Yao turned to Tracy and said in perfect English, "Hey Tracy, what are they talking about?"

Tracy said in broken Chinese, "Wo bu zhi dao." (I don't know)

Pretty funny commercial. Someone should post that in here.

I just read the article on the Chron's website, and by god, was it a breath of fresh air. The forum has gotten so depressing with all the trade T-Mac talk and all these broken quotes that some boneheads have been posting as proof of some supposed bad blood.

Kudos to the OP for posting this right away.

ya, it's sad. i've actually spent very limited time here since most of the threads are just taken over by negative people posting speculation and rumors about everything.

there's so many ignorant posters on this site, it can be overwhelming. i just have to hang out in other forums until there's a story with some credibility behind it over here. all the tmac trade and speculation on this site really just made me want to stay away from here. can't believe how many people buy into the media and rumors moles. he said she said, so it must be true.

Pretty mild stuff except for the Tmac part....he needs to ADAPT his game....

Hey Tracy, do you know WHY the guys are more confident? Because they are touching the ball a lot more often.

That leads to better execution and better confidence.

DO NOT DOMINATE THE DAMNED BALL !

There is a difference between "saying the right things" and "doing the right things".

Man, the notion that this team is better without t-mac is really obsurd! It's as obsurd as the notion that the team was better last season without yao! Yao + T-mac + RA's offense + teammates playing well consistently = deep run into the playoffs.

Wasn't it Bonzi who lost 15 pounds?

The only reason Mcgrady would lose weight is because he didn't work out hard.

Can somebody with more time check me on this:

I have a good feeling that McGrady's assist averages with Houston are higher than any other non-PG superstar. I believe in him. (Until we trade him. ;) )
