Now Daryl Hill wants to know why an MP3 video player he bought at a Wal-Mart in Sparta was preloaded with pornography and explicit songs. Hill bought three of the players as Christmas presents for his children. He said one of the devices had apparently been returned to the store from a previous owner who loaded sex clips and songs with lyrics about using drugs. "Within 10 minutes, my daughter was crying," Hill said Thursday. "I wish I could take the thoughts and images out of her head." Hill questioned why Wal-Mart Stores Inc. would sell used merchandise as new, which he said violates its own policies. A company spokesman said in an e-mail to WSMV-TV of Nashville that stores are not supposed to return opened packages to the sales floor and that the matter was under investigation. Hill said he declined Wal-Mart's offer to replace the MP3 player. He said he has already bought his daughter a new one and is hanging onto the controversial one until he talks to a lawyer.

These things happen more and more because wal-mart doesn't have knowledgeable people in their electronics department and when things are returned they are not legally allowed to re-sell them because they are a retail store. Buuuuut thats inventory going down the drain so **** like this happens.

Best Buy tries the same **** but calls them "Open Items" and gives you a bull**** 10% discount on an item somebody else returned because it didn't work and in most instances they don't bother to make sure it works before they repackage it.


When i worked for dealtree.com we'd get thousands of mp3 players, computers, flash drives, memory cards, harddrives, etc and mostly all of them came with media still on them that had to be erased... nobody bothers to erase the things when they return them. Of course Best Buy explicitly stated in the agreement that all media had to be erased before it was put back on ebay.

A friend of mine purchased a car stereo from Best Buy and when he got home and opened the box it had a different, used car stereo in it! Someone else had purchased the stereo they wanted, installed it and then put their old stereo back in the box and returned it for a refund! The idiots at the return counter never even looked to see if the contents were in re-sellable shape!

To make things worse, Best Buy accused my friend of doing this! He's the guy who pointed it out to them! He had to get mad and argue like hell to get a replacement.

Best Buy's pimpled-faced brigade just sends the **** to the return centers and a lot of times doesn't even bother to look if the customer claim was right. I mean its stupid stuff too, like digital camera returns with just the accessories and not the camera. How stupid do you have to be to feel the weight of the box and realize there isn't a camera in there?

Best Buy's idiocy when it comes to customer service and returns is why dealtree.com does 9 figures in sales on ebay off their ****.
