I have to put in a vote for Fight Club. With all the previews, I thought it was just another "a bunch of guys get together to fight." Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The movie was a raging, inflammatory ride through what our place is in society. Truly an amazing movie.

Get Shorty has to be on my list. I also really enjoyed Saving Private Ryan, The Big Lebowski, Wag The Dog, Outbreak (I likes the Dustin Hoffman), Clerks, The Firm (I don't know why, but I really liked this movie. Hated the book), Kingpin (Greatness!), Goodfellas (Also Greatness!), Swingers.... I guess that's 10.

I'd also put Mallrats, Fargo, The Player, Boogie Nights, Three Kings, Out of Sight, Rushmore and Bottle Rocket as close contenders (and I could probably think of another ten movies that I really liked, too, if I kept thinking about it.)

Mine would be:

1) Forrest Gump
2) Dances with Wolves (Yes, I realize I'm alone here)
3) Pulp Fiction
4) Dazed and Confused
5) Shawshank Redemption
6) LA Confidential
7) Clerks
8) Farinelli
9) Grosse Point Blank
10) Braveheart

I reserver the right to change this list at any time, and just a reminder: Rocketman said these were HIS Top Ten favorites, and I'm just following suit. This is a very subjective topic, so don't blast me too hard for Dances with Wolves.

Lord Tree--I resisted temptation to put Fight Club somewhere in my list. I really enjoyed that flick, but I have so many friends who had nothing but loathing for it. I guess I'm a follower not a leader.

Fight Club was horrible. Either it was WAY WAY ahead of it's time, or it really just stunk up the place. I'd vote for the latter.

Pole, your not alone...Dances with Wolves broke new ground and was a great film in my opinion. A little long maybe...but still a great film. I would rank it right up there, too. Only the Kevin Costner bashers would berate this film. Ta-ton-ka = buffalo.

As for Dazed and Confused filmed in Austin, I was amused by this movie but I thought it was a stinker. I had a friend as an extra in this film...one of those drugged out hippie alternative dudes. I think you could do better than to include this on your top 10 list(put down the bong and think a little more about it ). Of course, this is your Top 10...who cares what I think? I don't even have a top 10 for you to rag on.

I thought Fight Club was good...except for the lame ending. Some people thought it was too violent but those are the people that always got beat up bad at the playground or near the buses in high school .

Did I see the same Pulp Fiction and American Beauty as everyone else? I thought those movies sucked!
my top 5:
The Shawshank Redemption
Malcolm X
Saving Private Ryan
The Distinguished Gentlemen
Above the Rim
Of course, these are changing constantly and I can't even think of most of the movies I've seen from the last decade.

In no particular order;

- The Fugitive
- Shawshank Redemption
- Dumb and Dumber
- Independence Day
- Austin Powers I
- The Usual Suspects
- Hot Shots Part Deux
- Malcolm X

Thats all I could think off the top of my head, I know I'm missing a crapload of good movies, but The Fugitive is one flick that definatley ranks among the best for me.
