It looks like Nash intentionally stuck his foot out to trip Felton and cause an injury. I think Nash should be suspended. I wonder if the league even took time to review that incident. Kobe gets suspended for hitting white men with elbows but Nash gets away with trying to kill a black man, big difference I guess. (dont take that last sentence serious, it was a joke.)
Its obvious the trip was intentional. Whether the intent to injure was there, i dont know. the only difference i can see concerning the incident with kobe is that flailing your elbows after a shot serves no purpose other than to hit somebody. Nash's intent was probably to trip the guy up so he didnt get a free layup. that being said, nash's play seems pretty dirty. (and lazy)
Tough call... I can't tell if Nash kicks his foot back or if Felton's right leg gets tangled (between 0:18 and 0:19) Definitely questionable though... kinda lame that there is no discussion of it at all
Maybe Nash thought Felton was going to pass because Nash usually tries to stop the pass with his foot, but still it is dangerous and that incident proved it. Kobe throws his arm out like that to draw the foul though. The incident where he hit Ginobili wasnt intentional IMO, but when he hit Korver, it was kind of suspect.
If you take a close look at the video, Felton was already in front of Nash, so I don't think so. I've always considered Nash a pretty dirty player...I've always considered the screens that he sets to be pretty much dirty play...a big man could never get away with that crap.
Looks like some of his soccer instincts kicked in. He was beat, and took the guy out. I don't think he intended to injure.
It is obvious the trip was intentional. Watch Nash actually look down to make sure he gets Felton while he sticks his foot out.
I don't know because Nash could have gotten himself hurt why would he try to get trip him when he can get hurt himself, but he did raise his hands quick not surprised like it was an accident.
There is no possible way, in the speed of the NBA game, that any player makes any decision that quickly and expects the outcome to be an injury to an opponent. The video looks like it was an intentional trip, as he was really beat and trips his back leg. The notion that he was trying to injure him though, is absurd. This type of play is not dirty, so much as it is crafty. The spurs are famous for it, this video is starkly reminiscent of the Bruce Bowen dirty plays in the playoffs where he clipped Amare's achilles. Or the many instances where he puts his foot under the feet of an elevated shooter and the shooter lands on Bowen's foot, rolling his ankle. They are not thinking "I will hurt this player muahahah" as much as maybe I can get away with this move since I am not in position defensively. Nash should be fined, not suspended.
I didnt meant to say it like Nash tried to injure him. Sticking a foot out while a player is running can cause an injury though exactly like that. Imagine if Shawn Marion landed on Felton while Felton was going down.
Yeah like the other guy said, I guess he figured if Bowen could do it then so could he. Just taking his vent up playoff frustration out on poor unfortunate Felton is all.
it was intentional. im a little surprised at nash. i'm pretty sure he didn't think that felton would be injured, but then again, what else would be the result of tripping someone? further more, why is he doing that against a lotto team early in the season. against the spurs in the WCF maybe understandable. i'm for a short suspension here.
This so soccer. yeah~ I would like to see him suspended. I hate to see tricks like this and I hate to see injuries even more
