It's getting ugly in Iowa... I wonder who is behind this? the Clinton camp? Edwards? I'll bet it's Hillary behind it. Looks like the libs are playing dirty. This is worse than anything Rove was ever accused of... You knew this would happen, I predicted it long ago.

    http://blogs.dmregister.com/?cat=53

Apparently unflattering and inaccurate e-mails are circulating the Internet about Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

One says he failed to pledge allegiance to the American flag during Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin’s annual steak fry in Indianola in September. The other claims he’s a Muslim.

An audience member at a campaign stop Tuesday at Kirkwood Community College asked him to explain the “nasty e-mail” about the flag.

Obama told the crowd of more than 900 people that the e-mail was completely inaccurate. He said the e-mail claims he is unpatriotic because he didn’t stand and place a hand over his heart during the pledge when, in reality, it was really the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“If anybody receives that e-mail, I just want everybody to know it’s simply not true,” Obama said. “This is similar to the e-mail that’s been floating around that says I’m a Muslim plant who’s planning to take over America. This would surprise my pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ.”

This is EXACTLY why he is unelectable.....

The dems are going to screw themselves out of an easy win by putting up someone who a good portion of the country is not ready to elect.

Obama sounds Muslim, has a Muslim father, and is half African American. Come on....this country has too many bigots to get a candidate like that elected......

    And Hillary is a woman.....

    Al Gore....paging.....Al Gore....

dont waste your time, he wont read the link.

i think this is something the republicans would put out bc if obama won the nomination, he would have the most cross over appeal and be able to take the majority of the independent and even some republican votes.

most likely being circulated by rove or someone who is associated to rove.

id hate to play against rove in monopoly or risk or halo or.......

If none of those pan out, maybe they'll just nominate a senator from Massachusetts again. The Democratic party is as inept as the GOP is evil at this point.

It is simply mind boggling that they would think that the red necks that got Bush elected to a 2nd term and who now have doubts about him would elect Obama or Hillary.

They are the typical "Anyone but" candidates.

Oh please. There's nothing in the story that suggests it's Hillary. Your comment is based on the speculation of one Trader_Jorge, bastion of credibility and intimate Dem insider.

This sounds very much like the Madrasa controversy, which was pushed by Fox and other right wing outlets who also tried to blame Hillary for it.

It's a classic Rovian two-fer. Get a smear out against a Dem and try to blame another Dem for it. That way, you knock two Dems down with one stroke and inoculate Repubs when they get caught with this stuff as they can say "see, Dems do it as well."

By the way, did you hear about Kentucky and Virginia?

Man, Rove must be EVERYWHERE if he is guilty of half of what some of the libs accuse him of!!

Ever been to Hillaryis44.com? Many think it's the undercover web backdoor / command central for team Clinton's war room. You should read some of the smears they put forth. This is right up their alley. Clinton is exactly what America's are fed up with -- smears, lies, alleged secrecy, and negativity.

Good stuff, Jorge. The day after Bush's approval dips lower than Nixon's right before his impeachment, Clinton is what America's fed up with. Good one.

I've seen no proof that this can be attributed to the Clinton campaign or any other Democratic campaign. Whether it is or is not while the Republicans might seem to capitalize on this to show dirty Democratic politics I suspect some are worried that this shows that a Democratic campaign is just as willing to fight as hard a potentially dirty Republican politics.

While this certainly isn't good for civility in US politics this should show that things like swiftboating will be responded to in kind.

What is Congress' rating? The Congress that Hillary is a part of? Still markedly lower than Bush's rating? Telling...

I can't believe you still quote polling data after all of your past embarrassments. That's just stunning.

Why use Congress' polling data instead of Hillary's when trying to make a judgement on Hillary? You need to retake Stats 101. Or Stats 001.

So did anyone go to that website I listed? How can you go there and not conclude that this smear of Obama is par for the course for Hillary? Based on her past, how can you not conclude that she will do anything for power? Heck, just look at what she did to Peter Paul -- she had him thrown in a Brazilian prison! Her team is infamous for putting her political adversaries in a testicular lockbox.
