http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking?season=2008&week=1&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab3pos1 4 (5) - Rockets 3-0 Congratulations, Rockets. Your reward for completing a tidy opening week featuring two road wins and a 47-point detonation from T-Mac? A visit Monday to Dallas, then San Antonio at home Tuesday.
Not a very reasonable and objective rating, coming from Marc Stein. The rating on NBA.com is much convincing for the reasons given on its site.
Easily #1. Gotta be. Just by his quote of us being comfortable the 1st 3 games, the Rockets can make him eat crow.
I don't agree with either power rankings. I don't think we're #1 yet, or number 4. so far, we're number 2.
Mark Stein is such a freaking homer. You can tell he's from Dallas the way he talks about the other teams.
We should be no. 1. On ESPN Rockets r ranked No. 4. What a load of crap. They should have been no.1. Spurs played Portland, Memphis n Sac all crappy teams n they r ranked no.1?? Celtics played only 2 games n barely won against Toronto n they r no. 2?? Detroit has been playing great so they r ranked good but i think they should have been no.2. Rockets beat Lakers who had won 4 staraight home openers n Rockets beat Jazz in Salt Lake which is very tough n easy win against Portland. Looks like Rockets have had it tough n should have been put much higher than No.4!!! Should have been: 1) Rockets: Beat Lakers n Jazz 2) Hornets: Beat Denver. 3) Pistons: Played without Rip 1 game n still won easily. 4) Pacers: No one expected them to start this good. 5) Spurs: Beat crappy teams but easily. 6) Celtics: Beat Cavs n barely won against Toronto.
I honestly think we can pull these two games out, beat dallas on the road and SA at home. 2-0 on the texas two step.
Yep. Notice how he listed all those undefeated teams (ignoring the Hornets) and as soon as he was ready to list a 1 loss team he listed...you guess it...DALLAS! The Rockets beat a tough home court team in the Lakers at their home opener (who went on to slaughter Phoenix and handle Utah), then beat the Jazz in their home opener which is nearly impossible, and then trounced the Portland Trailblazers. That's the same Blazers team that the Spurs needed 47 minutes to put away. Same story when they played the Grizzlies. Still the Spurs are #1 on this list. I'm telling you, if the Rockets had lost to the Atlanta Hawks, Marc Stein would bury them in the double digits on his rankings. Since it happened to the Mavs, it's just a hiccup against a very much improved Hawks team. Riiiight, Marc.
Someone posted that the Rockets are ranked #1 and this one has the team ranked #4. Now we know that rankings are bunk!
<*sigh*> ... well, let's see here... Spurs: yup.. They should be on top. Next.... any team (Boston) that needs overtime to beat Toronto shouldn't be ranked #2. Detroit: Congrats on being 3-0 in the East. But the East ain't the West. You're too far up in the rankings. Rockets should be ranked at #2.
ehh, I'm not so sure, maybe 20 games into the season we can make a firm standing of the Rockets place in the league, but 3 wins isn't much at this point in time. i believe that we will be the best, but as of right now we aren't the best.
