Don Chaney was done wrong by the Rockets. Throughout his tenure here, he was never given the talent to succeed.

Don Chaney won 52 games with Akeem missing 26 games. Mind you this was not the superhuman Hakeem from the championship years either.

Don went 15-0 largely with this lineup:

    G Kenny Smith
    G Vernon Maxwell
    C Larry Smith
    F Buck Johnson
    F Otis Thorpe

His major reserves were Sleepy Floyd, David Wood, Dave Feitl, and Kennard Winchester.

    Don Chaney coaching record w/Rockets:

    164-134 .550

    JVG coaching record w/Rockets:

    182-146 .555

    COY awards:

    Don Chaney - 1
    JVG - 0

    Playoff series wins:

    Don Chaney - 0
    JVG - 0

This year's team would easily win 60 games with Don Chaney coaching them. When you look at what Chaney did with inferior talent, there's really no question about it.

from now on we should take away new thread posting abilities from EVERYBODY. there should be more moderators creating specific topic related threads.

i am sick of coming in here seeing r****ded threads about random things which makes no sense.

9/10 of these new threads deserve to go in the freaking game thread. but noooo everyone wants to create a new thread to pollute the board.

Duck getting some love on the BBS, i love it. He was done wrong, you're right. He was awesome. Not Rudy T. awesome, but awesome. Those were sort of Dog YEars in Rocketland - the Buck Johnson era. total malaise.

Also - tinman, can you help me out here, I am having trouble figuring out how that team won 52 games. Hmmmm.....

Just another idiotic thread. JVG is dead to the Rockets but people insist on digging up the grave. And comparing him to Don Chaney is just ludicrous.

    Freak !!

I love ya man...can I have your bud lite?

Five stars, and maybe some people that are giving it 1 star will soon realize it is a parody on the JVG threads.

And show that JVG deserved exactly what he got....a boot in the A$$ out the door.

It does prove that JVG and Don Chaney are equals.

If I recall correctly, Don Chaney got consistantly outcoached at the end of his tenure here. We would outplay the teams the first half only to blow the lead and go waaaaay down in the 3rd quarter on a nightly basis. It's a good thing we replaced him with Rudy T ;)

TheFreak is actually pretty funny with this thread. It's a playful jab against the JVG thread.

Don was an assistant under JVG with the NYKnicks...

Yes, they are sort of equal... But they're both History...
