The Phoenix Suns today announced that center Amaré Stoudemire will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2.

Team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Carter will perform the surgery to remove a loose body. Carter performed microfracture surgery on Stoudemire’s left knee in October 2005. The 24-year-old Stoudemire will miss 2-3 weeks and is expected to have a full recovery.

The two-time All-Star and 2007 All-NBA First Team selection averaged 20.4 points and a career-high 9.6 rebounds last season, playing a full 82-game season after missing all but three games of the 2005-06 campaign due to injury.

2007 Phoenix Suns training camp runs Oct. 2-7 at McKale Center on the campus of the University of Arizona.

Another year and another knee injury for Amare. This doesn't sound very promising to the Suns fans.

Yao doesn't rely on athleticism as much as Amare for the majority of his points..

Hrm, I thought sports writers put Amare in front of Yao because Yao was prone to injury despite the fact that he's a PF.

How does one only miss 2-3 weeks after arthroscopic surgery? Sound like record breaking time to heal.

The whole point of arthroscopic surgery is less healing time. Instead of a big incision on the knee, there are only a couple of tiny incisions.

it doesn't take that long to heal from a minor knee scope.

He's going to have the agility of a potato sack by the age of 27. There can't be much cartilage at all left in those knees....

This is Stoudemire's third knee surgery in 2 years.

Also, damage is sometime revealed in an Arthroscopic surgery that wasn't seen in an MRI - see Oden.

He should think about perfecting the 16 footer like the Karl Malones and Carlos Boozers of the NBA because dunking won't be a regular option for him really soon.

Amare's midrange jumper is pretty solid, actually.

amare can still be a very good player with less athleticism, like durvasa posted his midrange game is good. however if his knees continue to f$%k up he's not going to be an all-time great pf like he looked on the path to be a couple years back.

Fans enjoy watching the dunks but some of them have no idea how much pressure exerted on the knees of the players when his 250 lbs body lands on the court.

I said PERFECTING; not learning how to make a jumper.
