I enjoy Conan.

I think his humor is very ecclectic and all over the map. He has many hits and nearly as many misses. But, I sure like seeing him try. I also like his personality better than any of the other late night talk show hosts.

yah its pretty embarassing that Houston is the only city with this. Anyone see that gag Conan had going with Mac and Hilton? I bet outsiders thought that was some sort of a joke, but man it brought back memories staying up till 2 watching those two's commericals. Anyway, lets hope this does something from KPRC.

The main issue is Steve Wasserman, the GM at channel 2 in Houston. He hates Conan big time! Plus, the guy is a jerk. You ever see his "editorials" after the news every once in a while? Pathetic.

Wouldn't that be more a network issue than a local affilate issue? The local affiliates only have so much pull with the programming.

Jeff, just curious. How do you know he hates Conan. Did he do a "Take Conan off the air" Editorial?

Everyone should check out the rest of the petitions on this board. Some are serious -- but a lot are silly. For example:

Petition for the Revival of Paul Jones -- Killed in 1893 by a drive by shooting. If enough people sign, he will be revived.

Petition to Revive Eight Tracks -- Which of course died out because of the Civil War.
(There’s also a petition to save vinyl records.)

Petition to tell the World (Specifically Ireland) that we care about the animals of the world.

Petition to create a new media area for Northeast Ohio, because Cleveland has 15 radio stations, and Akron has none.

Petition to stop Martha Stewart from choking geese to death by force feeding them with a plunger. (There’s actually more to this.)

Petition to recall Rainbow Vacuums, because they don’t make them as good as they used
to.

Petition to make pornography legal for those under 18, because they “want to see the
good stuff.”

Petition protesting Center for Disease Control standards for male hair grooming in prison.

Petition to respect the private lives of the Backstreet Boys.

Petition to get skateboards, rollerblades, and roller skates recognized as legitimate forms of transportation.

Petition to stop harsh prison sentences -- Man convicted of second degree murder and
shooting two others sent to jail.

Petition to love Haley Joel Osmet for life (kid from “The Sixth Sense”)

Petition for more sex and violence in movies. -- “It’s fun to watch.”

Petition to help Rich ____. He is almost 18, and his mom won’t let him drive. It is a
necessity -- he isn’t able to see his girlfriend often enough.

I have a couple of friends in the media (one at channel 2) and they all say that it wasn't originally a Conan-hating problem. The main thing is money.

When the local affiliates re-run a show in the same 24-hour period (as long as it is within like 8 hours of its original airing) as in Jenny Jones, etc, the affiliate gets to keep ALL the revenue from the commercials and doesn't have to share with the network.

Then, once Conan started freaking on channel 2, it became more personal. See, it is the affiliate's choice when to run the show when it is late night, so channel 2 can air it whenever. It still sucks.
