Well I'm sure us Rocket fans are the biggest fans of our team. But overall the fans of houston sports just suck! Last nite, before the end of the game about 40% of the people had left. Houston fans are just bandwagoners. I mean most of them. If the team is doing good they will be selling out and will be the talk of the town, but once they start sucking its like "eh who cares". I'm not trying to hurt anyones feeling, cause I myself live in Houston. So my choice for the best fans:

Basketball:
Knicks-they might be brash but they are true fans
Sixers-no matter how sorry the team is they are always popular in Philly
Bulls-if they manage to sell out most of the games this year, then you know they are loyal

Baseball:
Indians and RedSox - I dont watch baseball but as far as I know these teams have loyal fans.
Yankees and Mets- they seem really devoted to their teams; especially the mets.

Football:
Cowboys-they might be ignorant, but they will back up their team no matter what (I know because I'm one of em)
Packers-I guess cause they aint got nothin else beside football in Green Bay.

Umm... for you hockey fans out there I have no idea. But if I was forced to pick one I'd think it be Buffalo. Even though I dont know the team's name, but every time I happen to listen to that dork Rome, someone is calling from buffalo talkin smack about their team. Also I think the Lakers have the worst fans. They can barely sell out their stupid arena even when they are really good. If the team is okay then there will be quite a few fans, but if the team is kicking ass, it seems like every other person is a damn laker fan.

I dont know, but i think the clippers have the best fans, all 300 of them. They may be small in #, but they have alot of loyalty to still show up for clipper games. Unless, they are Laker fans and just got their schedule mixed up.

In hockey, i think Philly has the most loyal fans.

The Jazz fans here in SLC are pretty stupid/zealous.

Some of my favorite moments going to NBA games here in SLC (the worst thing being, for some reason the Jazz are always here), hearing Jazzholes yell:

on every other defensive position:
"get it tag, get it!"

every play, regardless if whether or not the Jazz are playing defense or offense:
"we gotta shut 'em down, we gotta shut 'em down right now!"

Cowboys, LOL! That's a good one, Rockets03. I was always amazed how many Cowboy fans suddenly popped up in Austin when they won the Super Bowl. Of course, they're nowhere to be found now.

Freak a little side note to your story.

When I started out as a Manager in
Training for Footlocker, I asked a long
standing manager, who's gear sells the
most. (This was about the end of 94)

His answer was without question, the
cowboys.

He went on to add that back in the
beginning of the 90's he couldnt give
away a cowboys jacket if he tried. Much
less a T-shirt.

Seriously, this isn't a bad topic. I think what you need to do is look at the teams that have never won anything, or at least haven't won in a while, and see what their fans are like. Portland has great fans, as does Chicago (Cubs), Cleveland (Browns), Phoenix (Suns), Utah (dorks but good fans), Green Bay, Pittsburgh, etc. Houston obviously has some of the worst fans on the planet. LA as well.

NY fans are the most informed, most opininated and most vocal fans I have seen.

Freak: I agree with you. Houston fans are among the worst.

If the Rocks fans are so bad..how do you explain all the rabid fans on this bbs?

I think the problem is that the fans that can afford the lower prom tickets are too afraid to get up and cheer for fear of looking stupid or wrinkling their expensive clothes!
If you want to see the most rabid fans, setup a large site with jumbotron screens and don't charge admission, I'll bet it would be packed, loud and rowdy!!!

2K:

What I meant was, the fans that the rest of the country sees (the people that are at the games) are the worst. They are so quiet unless the scoreboard tells them to make some noise. They don't get on opposing players, (yelling at them, distracting them)They basically treat it like a trip to the opera.

Where are the real die-hard Rocket fans? Most of them can't afford the high cost of tickets. When I lived in Houston, I would go to a bar to watch the games, you wanna talk about rabid fans!!!!! It was way better than being at the "library" ...I mean laptop. And yes everyone at clutchcity.net is a die-hard also.

Hey, I now live in the Bay Area and love to sport Cowboy gear. What are 49er fans going to do to me, taunt me and throw their whine at me. Now that the 49ers really suck it just isn't as fun though. Of course if I were in Oakland or Phily I might have to be a little more weary. You don't want to put being a fan above being able to breath after all. I remember an idiot Skins fan almost be done for being a little obnoxiuos in Texas Stadium.

And yes Freak, still a Cowboy fan after weak playoff showing and the "Crack-Wagon" and all. Go Crack-Wagon!! Go Cowboys!!

There are the one and only Raider Fans. I guarantee you will not find any more die-hard fans then them. I've always been one and you don't understand the meaning of being a fan until you've gone to a Oakland game. And you think halloween is only once a year...LOL.
