As I look over the Rocket Squads that JVG has had I have to Admit . .. His most Talented Squad May have been the SF squad they just happened to run into a Team with 4 Hall of Famers on it in the 1st round Rockets 2006-2007 Yao Ming Tracy McGrady Rafer Alston Luther Head Shane Battier Juwan Howard Bonzi Wells Chuck Hayes Kirk Snyder John Lucas Dikembe Mutombo Vassilis Spanoulis Jake Tsakalidis Scott Padgett Steve Novak Bobby Sura Rockets 2005-2006 TRACY MCGRADY YAO MING RAFER ALSTON JUWAN HOWARD DEREK ANDERSON DAVID WESLEY STROMILE SWIFT LUTHER HEAD KEITH BOGANS RICHIE FRAHM JON BARRY STEPHEN GRAHAM CHUCK HAYES LONNY BAXTER DIKEMBE MUTOMBO JOHN LUCAS RICK BRUNSON RYAN BOWEN MACIEJ LAMPE Rockets 2004-2005 1 Tracy McGrady 3 Bob Sura 5 I-Juwan Howard 7 David Wesley 11 Yao Ming 13 Mike James 17 I-Charlie Ward 20 Jon Barry 25 Moochie Norris 30 Clarence Weatherspoon 32 Torraye Braggs 35 Scott Padgett 40 Ryan Bowen 42 Vin Baker 55 Dikembe Mutombo Rockets 2003-2004 YAO MING 11 STEVE FRANCIS CUTTINO MOBLEY JIM JACKSON MAURICE TAYLOR KELVIN CATO CLARENCE WEATHERSPOON ERIC PIATKOWSKI SCOTT PADGETT TORRAYE BRAGGS BOSTJAN NACHBAR MOOCHIE NORRIS MARK JACKSON MIKE WILKS ALTON FORD CHARLES OAKLEY ADRIAN GRIFFIN We never seemed to recovered from the Drain in Talent the SF - TMAC trade cost us. No matter what you make of T-Mac, we have to thank our lucky stars every day that we don't have Steve Francis' contract still on our books. 2003-04 our most talented roster? Seriously, that's whacked.
I don't think the SF squad was the most TALENTED group, but they certainly played with a lot of heart. The Rockets haven't been the same since the trade, for whatever reason, but if we can get Stevie back next season, I think he is our answer, and he is the type of leader our team needs. McGrady and Yao simply aren't leaders.
06-07 vs 03-04 is an easy win for 06-07. i dont see how u can say TMac lowered the talent of the rockets team when their is a clear improvement over the old rosters
04-05 team is easily the best sqaud among all those teams. But I am not sure if it is most talented. I voted them anyway. There were several players (Sura, Barry, James, and Wesley, etc.) in that team who may not be most physically gifted, but boy they could ball and they had guts!
I also hate how we traded Jim Jackson. He was one of my favorite Rockets, and he was solid. JVG loved him too.
I don't see that CLEAR a Improvement. Point Guard Rafer and JL3/HEad av SF and Mark Jackson] Shooting Guard Tmac and HEad/Snyder vs Mobley and Wilkes?] SF - Battier vs Jim Jackson PF chuck Hayes/Juwan vs MO Taylor/ weather C Yao/Deke vs Yao/Cato I honestly cannot say talent wise but I would like to see that game played Rocket River
I don’t know if I’d say they’re the most talented, but they were probably built for today’s game better than the current squad. Younger, more athletic, guards that could break down the defense (Francis/Mobley), big men that could knock down open shots (Taylor, Padgett, Yao when he was still able to hit open jumpers).
Francis' perceived value would not have plummeted the way it has if he hadn't been traded. I think the current squad is more talented, but not by a whole lot.
If this only considers recent squads, I like 02-03 the most: Yao/Cato/Collier Griffin/Taylor Posey/Rice/Nachbar/Morris Mobley/Hawkins (loved this guy) Francis/Norris At the time, I thought this team had a ton of potential if allowed to develop together. (Assiming Eddie doesn't lose it and Collier doesn't pass away)

man i remember back in middle school Cato and Hawkins came to our school (i think it was cato i can't really remember). and i walked up to hawkins to get his autograph for a friend. SF was supposed to come too but traffic was holding him up.. can't forget calvin though for showing up he was pretty cool too.
