I would like to see them end up in New Orleans. As I would have to travel 5 hours to see the Rockets, play, I could now travel one hour. But beside the selfish points ...

The city of New Orleans has the potential to be a great city. I think in the next decade, this city will be turning around. Once they start sweeping out all the crooked politicians and get some real people who care, they could do wonders around here. The people that support their teams are die hard fans, but they will not get the fan support right away. They already have a stadium so that is no problem. There is also plenty of tourism.

Provo, UT. Then I could see the Rockets 4 times a year within 40 minutes of my house.

I'm with you on New Orleans. Weekend road trips to New Orleans would be a lot more fun than going to Dallas or San Antonio. Plus, it would be a guaranteed win

Vancouver... as long as the Grizz stay in Vancouver, then the players will not be happy with their situations, and the Rockets could benefit.

I'd rather they stayed in Vancouver, but, barring that, I'll take New Orleans. Barring that, Memphis. It'd suck if they went to Anaheim.

Arlington, so I wouldn't have to drive all the way to downtown Dallas to see an NBA game.

But since that is a very unlikely destination for any NBA team, I will go with Memphis. My mother's family is from NE Arkansas, and when we'd visit when I was a kid, we went to Memphis a lot. I have good memories of the city.

I would prefer New Orleans or Memphis.

And with FedEx jumping into the picture, my guess is that the Grizz end up in SW Tennessee.

New Orleans sounds good...or one of the big cities in MO, KC or St.Louis. Missouri has some great fans for all thier sports...I know b/c I'm a Chiefs fan. Look at the Cards of baseball, and the Royals don't have bad fan support either. I'm sure an NBA team would get people out to the games.

According to this article, Heisley's seriously considering Dixmoor, IL. Keep in mind, their source is the Chicago Sun-Times, which is not the most reputable of papers. If this is at all true, though, I'd say Heisley is the stupidest man in the league.

The Grizzlies would be the better team in Chicago if they moved. But why would he want to compete with the Bulls for the business clientele when he can have a monopoly on that market in a place like Memphis?

The interesting thing about it is it will create another intra-city geographic struggle like they have in baseball. The well-to-do Northsiders will remain Bulls fans (in the same way they still root for the Cubs) while the ghetto Southsiders will root for the Grizzlies. If the Grizzlies are bad though, the Southsiders will probably remain Bulls fans. However, even if the Bulls are bad and the Grizzlies get good, I doubt Northsiders will become Grizzly fans -- just like they won't root for the White Sox even when they're kicking the crap out of the Cubs.

Why can't the Grizz share the United Center with the Bulls at least until the new arena is built?

The Lakers, Clippers, and LA Kings share the Staples Center without any major problems.

Whoever runs United Center may not want to lease the place to Heisley while a second arena is built, or it may be that the buildig would simply be too expensive for what they get back. Notice that even for the temporary facility, the Grizz want luxury boxes, etc. The Bulls and Blackhawks likely currently get all the money from the luxury suites at United Center and probably wouldn't want to share. Because the Clipps came in from the get-go at Staples Center, they contracted for a share of the luxury seating, etc.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that Heisley would prefer moving his team to the Chicagoland area since that's where he's from. But I would have the same questions. Why bring a team there and be second fiddle when he could go to Memphis or Louisville and be king of the heap.

But what do I know, I was just saying a few posts ago that I thought the Grizz should move to Arlington (and have supported the notion of the Grizz moving to Anaheim). Surely there is more potential support for a second NBA team in Chicago than there is for a second one in Dallas. I guess I am just surprised to see Chicago emerge as a potential destination.

It would be nice to have another team in Texas, but I doubt that happening. New Orleans would be cool though.

Vancouver, or my hometown of Chicago. It'd be awesome if they moved to Dixmoor on the southside or Allstate Arena on the northside.
