Maybe you don't appreciate her specific style? I personally think she's a great singer. She has great control over her voice and has lots of variety in that she can hit a decent high note, but can also go to a deep voice. She can't belly dance for **** though, I'll tell you that.

Alanis Morissette, I think, doesn't have a great voice. I absolutely love her music, but there's really nothing special about her voice IMO.

Music means very different things to different people. My opinion vs. your opinion is just one example, but since my family has always been extremely music-oriented (one brother sings jazz, other is a big DJ here) I like people to understand that music is multi-dimensional and to not simply say someone or something is "****" or "crap" based on their opinion.

Nothing pointed at you specifically obviously, just something I've always thought about.

I loved that Wyclef Jean song before Shakira added her 2 cents. I seriously cringe whenever I hear the vocals. I know it's all subjective, but I'm not a big fan of her voice at all.

Thank you. I've heard a lot of people on this board say Shakira can't sing. She is certainly an acquired taste. I have liked her music years before she broke out here in the US. She one of the Spanish artists I respect the most musically.

ya i have her spanish mtv unplugged album which was before her US breakthrough. its really good and i dont even speak spanish

I love Shakira. I am a huge fan. I wish i went to her concert though.

It's like listneing to arabic music with spanish lyrics sometimes though.
