"I don't expect people to give me respect in the NBA. Respects are won with strength, but not given by others."

"Is there a choice in life? It's always been like this. I am jealous that you have a lot of leisure and free time. You are jealous that I have a lot money."

-- Yao Ming said to his friend Yang Yi.

"Hometown is like my quilts. Sometimes when you are in sweet dreams, you don't feel it's comfortable."

"We can't be too inconsistent. The coach doesn't have much hair left."

"I am this kind of a ball player: Be successful or unsuccessful. There is no road in between."

"One is taller. The other is shorter."

-- Yao Ming said when he was asked about the differences between Jeff Van Gaudy and Rudy Tomjanovich.

"Maybe basketball is just my destiny."

-- Yao Ming explained why he enjoys more media coverage than Tiger Woods.

"I don't really have anything to say. Basketball is not a game that you can play with your mouth. It needs action to prove yourself."

-- Yao Ming said after a slump of few games.

"Physically, I think the weakest point is our coach."

-- Yao Ming said when he was asked about the weakest point of Houston Rockets.

"I can see well enough on the 28-meter basketball court."

-- Yao Ming said when a journalist asked whether his addiction to video games has affected his vision.

"Hope you guys don't force to go to the toilet."

-- Yao Ming said to the beleaguering newshounds.

"The question you asked is the weirdest."

-- Yao Ming said when he was asked what the weirdest problem was since he went to the USA.

These are classics !!! :D :D :D

"Embarrassed journalists ask me embarrassing questions, and they get embarrassing answers, and then hand out embarrassing stories to the embarrassing editors, who put them to the front pages of newspapers. When is this going to end?"

-- Yao Ming said of the domestic journalists.

"Be a journalist. I can't get away from you guys, then I just mingle with you guys."

-- Yao Ming said when a journalist asked what he wanted to do after retirement.

"The journalists are poking me all the time. It's impossible for me to stop even I want to."

-- Yao Ming mocked about his motivation to keep going.

"Is America in a famine?"

-- Yao Ming was amazed by the speed American journalists had their food on May 13, 2002.

Oooooh, I know Yao is good! I don't know he is that good!

I had an impression that most of NBA players are talking like a RAP musician.

Maybe being slow on speaking English give Yao more time to speak smart!

The latest both humourous and funny quote was when Wang Meng asked him his first reaction when he was tripped by Big Z and fell to the ground with his shoulder and face down, he said:

Quote:

http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-03-07...369512_03.html

TITAN: Is your knee okay ? That tripping by Big Z looked like very serious.

Yao Ming: My knee is okay. But (I have to clarify) first, it was not that I was bumped; second, I did not stumble. I was straightly pulled down. My left shoulder and elbow got some bruise but not big deal. At that time, when I fell, in my mind, there was this very celar judgement process. I just thought: "Oh God bless me, please don't let my knees reinjure. Therefore I made sure my knees were the last to fall. The elbow is also very easy to be injured, so I also tried to delay landing the elbow as far as possible. So what remained to be sacrifice is my face and chest....so I landed my face and chest down onto the floor first. I'd rather be shameless (losing my face) than to have to injure my knees/legs again. 这时候只能要腿不要脸了。"

LMAO

I haven't read about this one. I am actually amazed by how much were going on in his mind in only a couple of seconds while he was falling.

You just can't help coming to the conclusion that this guy got very high IQ! :D

why do AWESOME threads like these not get tons of pages in posts when other threads such as "we should've [insert trade rumor here]" keep on going forever. even after the trade deadline

Thanks for posting. Its a relief not read something that is interesting on this board for a change and not the same old whining threads. Keep them coming!
