So the question rises again. Is the Rockets BETTER with or without Yao Ming ?? What do you guys think about the following analysis ??
Hmm, if I remember correctly, there is also a Clutch fan whose screen name is Jeff Pan. Wondering if these two are the same person.
See the stone set in your eyes See the thorn twist in your side I wait for you Sleight of hand and twist of fate On a bed of nails she makes me wait And I wait without you With or without you With or without you Through the storm we reach the shore You give it all but I want more And Im waiting for you With or without you With or without you I cant live With or without you And you give yourself away And you give yourself away And you give And you give And you give yourself away My hands are tied My body bruised, shes got me with Nothing to win and Nothing left to lose And you give yourself away And you give yourself away And you give And you give And you give yourself away With or without you With or without you I cant live With or without you With or without you With or without you I cant live With or without you With or without you
I'm not a fan of JVG but I will give him credit for weathering and even improving the team without Yao. That said Yao was on an MVP pace and now T-Mac is on an MVP pace so what is better have one player on an MVP pace or two? I think most of us would rather have two.
As i have allways said, you can never be better without the most dominante big man in the game. when yao gets back, this team is gonna be a powerhouse. abslote elite team.
The way I see it, the Rockets are: 14-6 with T-Mac and Yao 2-4 without T-Mac 14-5 without Yao 0-2 without both This team is only going to get better when Yao comes back. I think the main factor that the team's success will hinge on will be McGrady. He needs to still be just as assertive when Yao is back. I'll want him to set Yao up and continue to pass as much, but he can't regress back to the less-than 20 ppg he was doing with Yao in the lineup.
The answer to all of this question, still remains hidden! The answer is that Alston the Rockets Point Guard is not a true playmaker Point Guard, even though he is average when counting assists. The only true playmaker, with court vision and skills to make his team mates better is Tracy Mc Grady. So all Rocket Players suffer when their Playmaker Tracy Mc Grady is out of action. Therefore Yao Ming's performance with the team should only add to their demention and capability. Conclusion a well Tracy Mc Grady is more important to the Team because he is the Playmaker.
It is silly to ask if we're better without Yao. Of course not. But, I do think McGrady is the more important player between the two. Yao can dominate the game, but McGrady's been doing a great job of pulling the team together and making the parts work. He was not doing a very good job of that early in the season when they were both healthy, but he often starts the season slow. I expect when Yao gets back that McGrady will continue leading the team even if he takes a backseat on scoring, and we'll be better than ever. I have to agree with Highwire about the role of coaching here. If we go downhill when Yao returns, I'd look at the marginalization of McGrady's role and what Van Gundy is doing to make sure they are both playing to their strengths.
Ah, but you should have countered with this one from Sgt. Pepper: We were talking-about the space between us all And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away. We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it To try our best to hold it there-with our love With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew. Try to realise it's all within yourself No-one else can make you change And to see you're really only very small, And life flows within you and without you. We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people, Who gain the world and lose their soul- They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them? When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind, Is waiting there- And the time will come when you see we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.
All he really had to say is Tracy McGrady is very important to the team. The Rockets are also 14-6 when Yao and McGrady are in the lineup -- the 16-11 record is misleading because 7 of those games were without T-Mac. The way the Rockets are playing and the success they are having is very, very surprising to me. I expected them to have a very hard time going .500 while Yao was out because primarily Tracy McGrady was not playing very well and was out with another back problem when Yao went down. T-Mac was looking like damaged goods. Compare how McGrady was playing before Yao went down and now. In the first 20 games (up until he was hurt before Yao went down) 19.2 points on 41.9% from the field (28.7% from three), 6.3 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 35.0 minutes. 19 games since (with Yao out) 28.6 points on 46.5% from the field (37.9% from three), 6.1 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 36.3 minutes. I mean when was the last time we saw T-Mac shoot this well from three-point range? Even when he was leading the incredible stretch for the 04-05 team, he was 43-44% from the field and 31-33% from long range. His resurgence, and the overall team commitment to defense, is what has made the Rockets a special team without Yao. The main thing the Rockets have with Yao in the lineup is an option that many teams can't hope to contain. Against Dallas for example, Yao will make a big difference. Perhaps against some other teams, Yao's generally slower style may make the Rockets not as sharp. Still -- Yao is going to add a big dimension when he returns, but I think those expecting a much better winning percentage than what we're seeing now may be disappointed.
Lets see... Yao was one of the leading candidates for MVP when he went down. I think any team that added him would be better. The difference in the record I believe has more to do with the fact that TMac was not playing good and he was actually hurting the team. Plus the team had not had as much time together (early in the season). I say they have played great. TMac is finally hitting his shots. Yao comes back. Come playoff time, we are all going to be loving life.
We're obviously better with Yao back in the lineup as long as T-Mac is the first option. I've said it from the start, and his play since Yao went down has only proved it moreso.
I would agree with this and this also shows how the game as changed. At one time the game was a center dominated while now its more of a guard and swingman oriented game.
as much stats as you wanna throw in here to make ur case of TMAC scoring a crapload more points w/o Yao.... ROCKETS WILL NEVER EVER EVER WIN A PLAYOFF ROUND WITHOUT YAO (TMAC does not have heart... fine, sometimes he does but not enough, and it is only when someone pisses him off) Come Back Yao, I miss you
