Here's the thing, Yeah Betty is ugly but here are the other chicks on the show:
 Ana Ortiz  Becki Newton  Vanessa Williams  Rebecca Romijn (on the show she used to be a dude) And:  Salma Hayek (though I think she's done with the show now that Rebecca is on) And a host of fashion models as background; the show is anything but ugly. My girlfriend has watched from the beginning. I didn't get into it until like the 4th episode or something (I fell asleep for the first few). I'll admit to watching it. Good show.

i saw the original columbian show, and it blew ass. the chick was hot as hell after her makeover though. the one on univision now and ugly betty arent even trying. the chicks look pretty much the same before and after, except for the hair and braces. the original had the chick lookin fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugged up. then she was instant boner material.

Awesome show, although in all honesty I only watch it because it comes on before Grey's Anatomy. The funny thing is that America is really pretty in real life, and while she not the picture of beauty on the show, she's more nerdy looking than ugly.
