Are there any special tips or 'tricks' to these? You know the ones that are like some personality test that employers use as part of their application process.

Most of the time these seem to ask the same question over and over again.

Is there such a thing as a 'right' answer to these? Anyone have any information on them?

there are questions like "Have you ever, even for a moment, been disappointed in yourself" that are designed to catch you if you are just totally telling them what they "want to hear".

But if you are careful you can pick those out and otherwise "tell them what they want to hear"

I know for a fact that there's basically a meter that gauges your responses mostly negative or mostly positive. Just be completely positive with every single question, you'll be fine.

When I first started working I would get these type of questions. I don't think I've had an interview that anyone asked something like that in 10 years. I think I'd be offended it they did.

I took one once, and the boss giving it to me said to "answer it like you are a perfect angel." It worked.

If you're afraid of the cup, then get someone else's sample beforehand.

it's one of the most annoying parts of the interview process. i dont' really know how to proceed with them.

lie and tell show them you're an angel? ok, i can do that. but damn, are they gonna penalize me for it. i mean, who the hell has never taken anything from work? have i ever stolen anything as a kid? uh, no. i'm Vince Young, just perfect.

I took one for an employer who was hiring at my college campus and they were giving a math test for a computer programming job. I thought it was f-ing ridiculous that I'm in my last semester of college with about a week left to go and first thing I have to do is turn around to take a math test for a prospective employer. My feeling at the time was "who the f**k do you think you are?". I think I subconciously bombed it on purpose and walked out thinking "I don't want to work for you anyway".

If it was easy, why didn't you just ace it??? I don't think this was that offensive. Don't other places do the same thing that has anything to do with computers?

No, I don't think it is typical to take a math test when applying for a computer programming job. It's more typical to be asked technical questions related to computer programming. I didn't say I was offended...I just didn't agree with their process. They were basically saying we won't even sit down to talk to you unless you ace this math test. If their that anal about the interview process, then I would hate to see that work environment personally.

Oh...I'm not sure what you call "easy" but this was like taking the math portion of the SAT. So, I guess that is considered easy to all those of you with your high SAT scores...which is probably 95% of this board. LOL
