I can't tell you how many times I saw these types of games in my early youth.

Lets see if you heard this before...

    Houston Center.

Stats: 35pts, 15rebs, 5+ blocks, changed about 20 shots, caused about 5 TO's, in his mid 20's, best center in the league, following a Laker Center who dominated...

    Sound familiar?

    Lets keep going...

Does all he can for 10 years with games like the one tonight. And the Rockets lose. Center name? Hakeem Olajuwon.

Fast forward to the present. The Sequel seems to be on the way. Center name? Yao Ming.

And we can thank T-Mac for that. And when he is gone, we can thank the next supposed "complimentary player" the Rockets will get to play along Yao. Why do I have the strange feeling that we are going to spend the next 6-7 years watching Yao dominate and put up stats only to never see a ring?

Its not like Shaq didn't suffer from not having that second go to guy. He did. Kareem also. Hakeem also. Robinson also. Barkley also. Ewing also. Garnett now. And when they get that number two guy, a ring usually follows right behind.

We thought we had that guy to compliment Yao. But he broke. And now, we are repeating history.

Hakeem pulled it off one year all by his lonesome. But that was against the Knicks who also just had one guy. Our guy was better than their guy. We won in 7 games. When we got a really good other guy, we smoked the competition. And Olajuwon got two rings. I could argue that during his career, he could of gotten 4-5. But, he had 40pts 20rebs on multiple nights and had nothing to show for it. Coaches came and went and the one constant was the Dream. Putting up monster numbers. In double overtimes. And we kept losing them close games year after year.

This is starting to look very familiar. Its the late 80's early 90's. Nothing like having an all-world player just plug away year after year with those monster stats for...nada. Yao could still get a ring...maybe two. But I am greedy. How about if I ask for 5. With a healthy other guy, we can do that.

Need that 2nd guy. I wonder where he is?

I totally agree. I think they need to bring Iverson in, especially after a loss like this.

Yao's dominance has surpassed my wildest imagination, but he does need help, desperately.

Tmac needs to suck it up and play. Even if its just for 20 minutes or whenever Yao takes a breather.

How can Tmac control his back spasms? This thread makes it seem like it's his fault he's out.

    There's no I in team.

Yeah let's thank T-Mac for having a bad back. It's just something we have to thank him for. Really, it is.

If T-Mac's back holds, we can be a great team, if it can't, we're nothing.

The life of this team hangs in the balance of that back and that's not a very stable one. Should this team trade for a more stable (injury wise) player? Yeah considering the "win now" mode the team is in.

IS T-Mac going to be traded? No.

It's too bad all this effort put in by Yao is pretty much going to waste. He's playing so good he's basically a one man army.

don't stay on board a sinking ship.

i posted that in another thread and i'll post it again. this needs to be the fans motto until the management get's wise about this. tmac isn't getting any better. we will waste the next 3 years on tmac.

this is a true test of our owner.

is he about making money? - if so, he will keep tmac for marketing, ticket sales, and merchandise sales.

is he about winning? - if so, they will quietly shop tmac this summer.

sure his stock is going to be extreemly low. guess what? it's better than not having ANYthing on the court! get what you can for him.

WTF are you talking about?

Are you blaming McGrady for being injured?

Regardless of whether or not you want him gone, we're pretty much stuck with him until at least his final contract year. So you better get used to him.

The only thing Le$ Alexander can do is get another superstar and swallow three max contracts, not get another superstar in place of McGrady, because no one outside of the Knicks would trade for him at this point when he clearly has a career-threatening injury.

Yao's toes must be uglier than a baboon's ass and burn like hemorrhoids but you don't see him not playing through it. Cmon Tmac, theres gotta be a way to relieve you back pain temporaily. Just 20 minutes a game would be great at this point.

the worst part is, ther eis nothing that can be done about it. he will only get worse.

there is only one thing the rockets can do if they care about winning.

Shaq had some very nice supporting players; from Penny to Kobe to Wade, he always had someone (except his rookie year).

God I hate the blind loyalty of the fans in this town sometimes. I know its bad to turn our backs (no pun intended) on athletes that arent living up to their standard, but I am sick and tired of putting all of our eggs in the baskets of athletes who are either inept (David Carr) or physically unstable (T-mac). I love T-Mac as a person and as a player, but we can NOT sit here and hope for the rest of the damn season that his back holds up. We cant. And what about next year? Yeah...Im sure injuries like this heal as he gets older. I feel so bad for Yao, and he's only been through one season...I cant imagine how KG must feel. I'd get on the phone with Seattle and set up a T-Mac/Rafer for Ridnour/Allen trade. I swear Ray Allen would be the perfect compliment to Yao Ming...

I really love McGrady, but at this point he is letting the organization down. Even when he is playing, he at time doesn't seem passionate enough to take it to a championship level. I can't stand Kobe, but he has a killer instinct that I wish TMAC had. TMAC needs to suck it up, get some back injections or something and quit letting his team down.

Again, the only thing Les can do about it is take on another bloated contract, he has no chance in hell of dumping McGrady's contract.

This is such a gay thread.

All new players and you blame Tmac for loses when he isnt even there. I guess he's the only player to get hurt and also take the blame while he's at it.
