Did not see this posted yet. If it's already there, just lock it.

So what do you guys think ?

Personally, I'm getting to like Battier better and better........

He is going to be a great team mate of our Big Man !!

His role model, professionalism, good-guy image, manners....

And he seems to be the very first new Rockets easily gelled with this team.

I"m with Kaleido on this one.. I was one of the few who was jumping for joy when I heard we traded Gay for Battier... I think his ability to spread the floor, hustle, knockdown shots is really going to show this season..

When the trade was made i hesitated to react. I knew Battier was never the high profile super athlete as was hyped in Gay. But I also knew Battier was solid and of course that is important in any team...to have that player that can do it all.

So I waited. But I admit I was skeptical at first because I thought we could get more, but now I think it was a steal since getting rid of Swift means that our team doesn't have to eat another "Cato-contract". That in itself was worth so much since it allows us to make improvements down the line.

    Now, I am definitely satisfied.

If Gay would have become the T-Mac type player his advocates advertised, that would mean that at some point it would be is team.

So I would have had a hard time roting for a Gay team.

by the time Gay fulfills his potential. Yao and Tmac would have been past their prime, battier brings so much to the table THIS year compared to what GAY could have, perhaps Gay will turn into an all-star, but not this year, and from the looks of the preseason matches, his not coping very well and his inconsisteny is really showing through. We need a championship this year and Battier helps us a darn lot more then Gay would have, we already have 2 superstars, what we needed were great role players, and battier is one of the leagues best.

Rockets are ANTI-GAY, and are loving Batty Boy, and from the looks of preason matches should be getting alot more head this year too ;)

Yes...we still gave up too much. Big men are valuable (even scrub ones like Swift), and I refuse to believe he had negative trade value.

What if Gay turns into an all-star like Steve Francis, but also fails to do the things that it really takes to win? Will we still wonder what might have been?

I was shocked when I first heard about the trade, but also a little relieved. I knew what we were going to get with Battier. Rudy Gay was and still is a huge question mark.

Feel the same. Even tell the end I was thinking there was more to the deal but there really wasn't...

I'm still not "happy" about the deal but I do like what Battier brings to the table.

I agree. Although I am excited about Battier this year, I feel like we just gave Stro away for nothing. I think the deal could have been done with just Gay.

No it wont be. Many of us are now happy that we have Battier but that wont change the fact that I was dissappointed they didnt keep Stromile. I like the trade for Battier, i just thinkt they gave up too much.

I was ticked when it first went through, fearing we lost a potential sub for an injured Tmac. I know he's not Tmac but I was thinking Gay would be able to pick up the scoring void more than Battier if called upon. Picking up Kirk Snyder for nothing made me feel better. Signing Bonzi looks really good, and my god Novak can shoot. Looking at the offseason as a whole, I think the Rockets did a masterful job and fully support the trade.

Salaries wouldnt have matched up. We had to through in somone to make them match. Thats why people expected to get somthin else in return. Maybe even a first rounder next year but we got nothing... Now if they took J. Howard off our hands that would be another story.

    Upset? No.

    Disappointed? Yes.

The Rox needed a solid 3rd scoring option, who could become a solid 2nd scoring option when TMac or Yao are injured. Battier is not that. Bonzi Wells or Luther Head may become that.

Battier is also a 3 and part time 4. This also does not feel a need, not unless you are only pencilling in 40-50 games for TMac this year.
