Edit: Launch Date for PS3 is 11/17/2006 I don't want to be a loser and be sitting outside of a Best Buy for a large part of (if not a whole) day. Now, if I were in a large group of losers, the loserness would be diffused between many. Right? Ok, maybe not...but still. It would make it easier to go on food runs, piss breaks, etc, if we're all in a group and holding someone's place til they get back. The best location would probably be Best Buy near the Galleria, as it will be the one that will likely be getting the most units, just like 360/PS2/Xbox/etc. And they normally do the midnight launch thing since it's the central store in Houston I think. Probably take a cooler or something with water/soda, and load it with ice to last for the day. Judging from the 360 launch, the first people started getting there around midnight of the day before launch, so 24 hours before. My plan (will probably be revised) would be to drive by Best Buy around midnight when I get off of work and see if there's a line, if not, go home and wake up around 8-9 and go stand in line. If we organize something though, we can set a definate time so we can all arrive around the same time and be all in one group, again, so it would be easier to hold someone's place in line if they had to go take a piss or go get food/drinks. So, can I count on some of you to join me?
I thought you got in on the pre-order at Gamestop? I'm probably going to wake up and head to Fry's, Target or Walmart.
1. As sad as it seems, I was kinda tempted to camp out for 360 just to take in the whole experience, I figure PS3 will be the last time I can do this until another 5 years 2. I got screwed by Babbages/Gamestop for PS2, the shipments were cut a bit shorter and my name got bumped off the list, although I did end up getting one a few days after launch. I don't want to risk it. 3. If I end up getting 2, one will probably either go to my brother (as a very expensive christmas gift split between my dad/mom/myself, or go up on ebay, mostly depending on what my brother thinks. 4. I'm just crazy.
I voted the 4th... not too big on getting game consoles the day it comes out.. I can wait and test it out with friends who has it.
I'll have work on the 17th Wait did you say it comes out at Midnight on the 17th? If that's the case I could go from there to work. I have to be at work at 4am. If this is true I'm all for camping out the day before. I work Mon, Wed, Fri so I'd be able to camp out the day before.
Well, nothing is "confirmed" by best buy, but all of their launches have been at Midnight on launch day. So yeah, Midnight on the 17th
Well as it gets closer to that time I'm sure they'll say whether it's midnight or not. If it is I will def. be interested in going.
Ill camp. Sounds fun, never done it though. The dilemna is if one should camp at a huge store with lots of units (ex: Galleria BB) or find a less popular store (Sams Club) with less people in line and camp there. And since Walmart is 24hrs where do those lines usually begin? I bet its chaos in that place.
Man I love doing that kind of stuff. Camping out in lines. Seriously. Mig you know I'd be there if only I was in Houston that day. In fact, you could just drop me off there really early and leave me there. I'd bring my Bible and read through it while waiting. That's what I did while camping out for Rockets tickets a few years ago with my dad. Well, I guess it doesn't matter, cause I can't be home that day. I hope you have fun. Meet some cool new nerd-friends waiting in line.
Been wondering about that myself, there is a walmart a couple blocks away from me and I've been wondering how that would work out
i'm a gamer myself but i never understood people's needs to camp overnight to get the latest game/console. i mean, is it really that hard to wait for another shipment where the product would likely have had an overhaul of it's kinks? i'm sure alot of people camp overnight to grab one and resell it for profit but other than that, just enjoy what you have now and wait.
But then you miss out on something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgZl0zlka08 Looks like a lot of fun.
Man. They just built a best buy on 290 near hollister. I can't believe I've never seen it. That's crazy! They just remodeled the Target that is next to it. From the outside, that Target looks finished. Now I don't have to go to Best Buy on FM 1960 near Willowbrook Mall, or 45 near the Beltway, or I-10. WOO WOOO. No, I will not camp out there. Sorry Mig.
