If Van Gundy does not get the job done this year, who should the Rockets go after? Larry Brown, should he be a possibility? Should Van Gundy be fired if the team starts off slow or ride the ship? What do u guys think?

Van Gundy has full year, short of a disastorous start (i.e. 5-20 or something similiar, and even then depending on injuries).

If another bad year, definitely someone new. Probably not Larry Brown, though. I don't know who, but Brown can cause as much damage as success, it seems.

I don't have strong feelings about firing JVG unless the team really underachieves and I don't see that happening, this is the most talented team JVG has had so no way do we not make the playoffs.

Larry Brown on the other hand, no way do I want him in Houston. Last years debacle with NY proved to me how overrated LB is. Coached like a rookie last year probably because he wanted to get himself or Isiah fired. I bet Les could talk Rudy into coming back just like Nellie came back.

I think that the guy that was perfect for the Rockets would have been Dunlevy. He lobbied so hard to get the Houston job, but to no avail.

He has done some really good things in Laker land for the Clippers!! :D

If JVG goes, Morey will have say in who steps in. He'll likely go with someone like Doc Rivers or Tom Thibodeau. Maybe Elie.

we should become like a football team and go w/ Adelman as the offensive coordinator and LB as the defensive coordinator :)

If the team starts off poorly this season, then he's probably gone. As for coaches to go after, Adelman is a top choice.

Larry Brown and Phil Jackson should never be allowed to coach the Rockets!!!
I would like a coach who needs to earn his ranking as a good coach- possibly Mario Ellie. He would have something to prove and he has the reputation as a hard worker and one who would have great heart for the Rockets, for it was as a Rocket he became a successful player. :p

If Van Gundy gets fired, the Rockets should replace him with Van Gundy.

I like Super Mario as a good choice. He looks like he is in that Popovich and Avery Johnson mode of hard nose coaching

If JVG does not get the job done this year (at least 2nd round of playoffs), his time in Houston should definatly be over. My first choice would be mario elie cause I think he could spark this team the way Avery did in Dallas. If that doesnt work out I would go after Rick Adleman
