Ryan's BBQ (in Clear Lake) behind The Hop & WhatABurger - ate here all the time due to its proximity
Joe's BBQ in Alvin - too far to drive to, but my personal favorite

It isn't very good...ok, had to qualify, other than my own BBQ, then I go to these places...
The best, IMHO is Joe's BBQ in Alvin, Texas...Nothing else compares...Luckily, my parents still live in Pearland so I go there at least once a month...
If I don't want to drive, then I go Pizzatolas or Luling...Goode co. is ok...

Nothing beats the brisket at Goode & Co. when it is super nice and juicy from slow cooking all day. It's like eating meat-flavored butter. The sauce is ok and the other stuff isn't too bad but the meat is what is really special.
I have to mention the most underrated - The County Line. It may not be the best but after a night there eating barbecue and listening to live music you'll think it is. It scores a definite 100% on the authenticity meter. It was there that I learned to enjoy the ubiquitous barbecue sandwich with pickles and onions, which on the face of it sounds like a horrible idea.

Best BBQ in town comes from the smoker on my back patio.
However, if we're talking restaurants.....
Best Ribs....Williams Bros Smokehouse in Acres Homes
Best Family Style - Swinging Door in Richmond
Avoid at all costs: Luthers, Drexlers, Old Hickory Inn on South Braeswood, and Post Oak Ranch on South Post Oak

See my post above. Swinging Door on FM 359 in Richmond. Got to have a party of four or more for family style (set price...all you can eat).

Of course...the BBQ snobs ragging on the chain restaurant. Luther's isn't the best, but it's good BBQ.
For a good steak, try Bennigans or Chilis
For Italian, I love Olive Garden
For Mexican, Casa Ole is awesome

i don't dog chains but Casa Ole is pretty crappy. hell, if it weren't for Taco Bell, CO would win worst Mexican ever.

The best BBQ is go to Kansas City, walk in a Gates & Sons and have an order of short ends, steak fries, and a double decker brisket and ham/pork sandwich.
This town has nothing even close.
BTW, I'd like to try those Acres Homes joints. Can anybody tell me more about them?
