This is more or less based on message board posts, but I probably trust those posting this info more than certain sites (including an Inquirer article that has reported pretty much the same info). Here's the main source, a post by xbdestroya in the PS3 section of the E-mpire forums: http://forums.e-mpire.com/showpost.php?p=1212289&postcount=39 For more info, read the rest of the thread (although try to stick to his posts and probably posts by cpiasminc...aka ShootMyMonkey from the B3D boards, the guy who posted all those funny developer stories from a while back). Here's the B3D thread as well: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33128 (more unbiased and knowledgeable posters there) So to sum things up, as it stands now, it seems like the PS3's GPU (RSX) has been downgraded to operate at 500MHz (as well as 650MHz for the memory IIRC); fo reference, the announced specs (from E3 2005) were 550MHz/700MHz. Sony better have a great TGS show.
Nothing major, really, considering the overall ability of the next gen systems. PS3 is still impressive (as least as far as specs go). Still, yeah...Sony seems to be swimming in negativity right now. And it just seems to get worse and worse. The net will have a field day with this.
