I pre-ordered this game about 2 weeks ago. Today I get the nice surprise of an email granting access to the Multiplayer Beta. I have dl'd and installed it. It gives you access to multiplay and a tutorial. I decided to try the tutorial and leave the Multiplay until I get home from work and have time to mess with it. From my extremely limited time with it, I can say I like it. The graphics are stellar and it ran pretty good on my work machine which is average at best. You can zoom in pretty close to the action and watch the germans get pooped. There actually seems to be a little strategy behind it (imagine that for an RTS), at least more so than build lots of units, overwhelm opponent. Certain units have a range of fire for the direction that they are facing. I had to flank a heavy machine gun, staying out of firing range (although when you are not in the heavy machine gun's range, the units still fire their light machine guns at you). Then I had to get close to them and throw grenades on them. Then I could take over the heavy gun change the facing of it and wipe out several patrols walking down the road. The maps are pretty intersting in the fact that it provides different levels of cover for your units. They will automatically take cover when fired upon but you can set them to take cover anywhere that it is provided. Cover doesn't always help though. As I found out with one of the aforementioned German patrols. They took cover behind a set of barrels which my heavy machine gun turned to toothpicks.

I have been pretty excited about this game since I saw a few previews earlier in the year. If you are an RTS fan, it is definitely one to keep your eye on. The graphics and gameplay seem like they will be very good. I'll try to post more later after I get a chance to play multiplayer.

I eagerly await the day when people stop so obviously using "Band of Brothers" as their starting point for making a video game. It was cool the first thirty or forty times.

I don't totally disagree, but it won't happen until people stop buying them. This game, however, seems so far to be of pretty good quality. Everything I have seen published (and the little interaction I have had with it) about it has been overwhelmingly positive. It seems to be far different than many of the low-budget clones that have come out.

DaDa- If you decide to get this game and get in on the Beta, let me know and we'll see about hooking up so you can wax me easily :)
