Killing terroristic leaders is ALWAYS a step in the right direction because it means one less terroristic leader in the world to plan civilian death...To think otherwise would be to erroneously suppose the death of Zarqawi was NOT a step in the right direction...? I argue the process in Iraq is a long term situation, and judging success or failure is NOT exclusive to a few years but rather long term. This is quite logical to me...I could go on with this but I choose not to ...here...Elsewhere I'm game, but I have another issue... Now that we got things out of the way on "predictions"...Here is my take on a...well...get this,...a Prediction! I predict... Hezbollah WILL NOT abide by the peace agreement. I may be wrong, but I'm willing to stand by this. Why? * It doesn't matter everyone in the world community wants peace... * It doesn't matter hezbollah willingly endangers lebanese civilans, women and children... I feel on the other hand Israel is concerned of the world community, and the desire of peace...from themselves included, I might add. Furthermore, I feel Israel is concerned of the lebanese innocent civilians...The pictures have shown the willingness of Hezbollah to utilize human shields of the poor civilians...(as long as we have stopped the "doctoring" of the pics, mind you...) What will the Hezbollah supporters say to the unwillingness of Hezbollah to disarm and talk peace in the face of a plan for peace with Israel on board? Does Hezbollah really care about the prospects of peace for the innocent civilians in Lebanon? I think not...Not with the ideology of Islamic facism as a basis for existance... It's sad that two beauty pagents: Miss Israel and Miss Lebanon (they were both very pretty) posed for a few pics and exchanged words...What a concept and a basis of understanding...Except you see where Miss lebanon, through encouragement by the political influence of Hezbollah was charged with treason for this apparently wayward act... I want to summize my prediction with a story about the turtle and the scorpion... The turtle and the scorpion are enemies... The turtle chooses a life of peace and co-existance...The scorpion chooses a life of death to others and void of co-existance... The turtle and scorpion both find themslves in a flood...A bad situation. However the turtle can swim and float, the scorpion cannot. As the turtle is swimming and struggling in the flood water to find dry land, he passes the stranded scorpion on a rock in danger of being swept away before long...The turtle cannot fathom the responsibility of realizing the eventual death of the scorpion, so the turtle offers to save the scorpion...The scorpion gets on the turtles's back and soon the turtle sees dry land in sight... But suddenly the turtle feel a sharp needle-like pain with total muscle loss...The turtle realizes he has been stung...the turtle asks: why? why did you do this scorpion? Now we will both die...The scorpion said it simply enough: It was in my nature...
israel doesn't exactly have a stellar track record in terms of complying with the agreements they sign, either.
Nobody has a stellar track record. No sovereign nation has a stellar track record, but I would summize and of course "predict" any infringement in a peace accord will be due to Hezbollah...Israel may be blamed for "responding" as they have before...
I perdict when the international community gets tough on the mollah's nuke program, the trouble in lebbanon will riseup again. another tactic by the mollah's to divert attention off there Nuke - Program.
We will see if the Israelis abide by their own promise to stop military operations Monday morning. Furthermore, if they don't withdraw from Lebanese land, the fighting won't stop. Violence is not likely to stop until the combined international and Lebanese forces move in place of the IDF. We will see, we won't have to wait for long...
The Isrealie Army has to evacuate the the Terrotories they captured against hezbollah for this peace resolution to work. otherwise, hezbollah will still instigate trouble by claiming isreal is still a invading force.the solution is for the isrealies to hand it back to the lebbaneese army.
Both sides have a lot to live up to in this agreement and I predict both will fail to do so on some level. I think the cease fire is a good step but there's a lot of uncertainty regarding it. My guess is likely some event will happen to restart fighting that will be difficult to determine who is at fault and be endlessly spun by sympathizers on both sides.
you can make all the predicitons you want, but actions speak louder than words and in this conflict israel is the only one to break a cease fire. whats worse, they broke a cease fire that they declared. couldnt even go 48 hours!
