Wow, how in the heck did you get so close to that lion? Were you in a vehicle or something? I would be afraid of the elephant too, since those can charge you as well.

    Thanks for the responses:D

It was an amazing time. I wrote about it in another thread, however i have seem to lost the search function(so either i'm blind or it is disabled).

I studied Elephants and Impala's for 4 months, in south africa. So i lived in a nature reserve, in a house without fences. So when we BBQed hyena's were waiting for us to leave the meat, and you could see their eyes. They usually waited in the grass about 12 feet from the BBQ place.

I could get so close because of two reasons:
1 we were in a Car, or on a car.
2 we had a Shangaan guy with us(shangaan is one of the tribes of Black african people, like Zulu's). His name was Reis. He knew everything about the animals. The only problem was that he couldn't speak english, and a little bit Africaans, and since we also could only speak a little bit Africaans we didn't always understand each other:D.

The lion was not that scary, the only thing a lion got scary was when there were lion tracks next to the car and we got out to make a picture of the tracks. And there was a lion 10 feet from my girlfriend, so we jumped back in the car, and luckily the lions also got scared and ran away.

Elephants are actually the only animals which are dangerous when you are in a car. That one Elephant in the picture was very close, realy close. He was about 6 feet away from us. And he just stood there. he was only angry with us when we started the car again and drove away(because wi had some more work to do), he then flapped his ears etc.

It was an amazing experience. Every night i could hear the hyena's, lions howling. And the rhino's and buffelo, and elephants. We even heard Hyena's walking under my window. Really Amazing.

Swoly-D since when can you speak Dutch?:D

Digital, but it is not the best camera:S therefor we had to get close to animals to have nice pictures.

P.s. HAs anybody of you visited Thailand? how was it? I want to go there (and Nepal) soon, i want to see the buddhist culture.

And MAdagascar(no not the movie, the country)? is it easy to see the lemurs?

a lion within 10 feet...that's scary. I would have been too scared to even move in that situation. I hate animals that are stronger than me :D
