This is the "Random Trade Idea" thread. This was created to <a href=" http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=115538">help prevent clutter in the Rockets forum</a>. Purpose and Rules of the Thread This time of year, the Rockets forum can get bombarded with "What about Howard for [whoever]?" type of topics, which discuss the possibility of acquiring a player, but there is no real news or substance behind it. Those are fine -- it's a message board, it's the offseason and we're discussing the Rockets -- but many of these topics (each in their own thread) can push other good topics off the front page. So this thread has been created. Any new "trade idea"-type thread that has less than an average rating ("3-stars") after 5-10 votes will get merged in to this thread. What You Must Do: RATE THE THREADS You have to rate the threads in order to tell us what you think belongs here or belongs in it's own topic. Rating a thread is easy - it's in the top right of the screen when you're viewing a thread. You also can rate the thread as you post (it's right above the text box). If the thread is well-thought out and worthy of a stand-alone discussion - vote it a "5". If the thread doesn't belong in it's own topic and should be merged with this one -- vote it a "1". Please try to avoid bashing posters who start these threads A simple explanation of why it won't work, for example, would suffice. Some people don't like these types of posts and lash out unnecessarily, which makes it worse. How about we trade Howard for Miles and Webster? How about we trade Howard for Miles and Webster? Okay im just as tired of these trade threads as all of you but i thought that this one has a chance at least. The Blazers are looking to get rid of miles at all cost and we are doing the same with Howard so i was just wondering if perhaps we could squezze Martell Webster out of them since they have Brandon Roy now.
I think it is a fair trade. Nobody is going to come along and just take Darius Miles for nothing. Portland gets a shorter contract and a player who will at least show up consistently every game. Houston gets Darius Miles, his potential, and his baggage, and Martell Webster. I think this is a trade actually that CD probably wouldn't do if offered. In case you haven't noticed, he isn't the best at evaluating young talent. And since the only reason to do this trade would be to get the potential of Webster, unless you are really confident that means anything, you don't want to do it. It works if Houston throws in Bob Sura.
WTF man. Stick the words "Trade Proposal" in your thread title. You made it sound like a done deal. I went through a dozen emotions the moment I read that, starting with dread over miles, and then elation over Webster.
Portland is rebuilding their team around Martell Webster, LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy. Why on earth would they trade any one of those players for a mediocre, bad contract player?
Oh really? Doesn't it kind of parallel our trade with the Grizzlies-- which has been largely approved by the pundits: Juwan Howard = Shane Battier Martell Webster = Rudy Gay Darius Miles = Stromile Swift Two for one. One talent, one solid vet, and one enigma.
I'm not tired of trade proposal threads. Stop your freaking flaming, it's so tiresome to wade through you worthless posts. This trade could only happen if Portland are very very desperate to get rid of Miles and they can't find any other takers that are willing to offer something better. Considering Miles contract, his reputation of attitude problems and aledged alcoholism it's not toally unrealistic though. I don't think I would do it even if Portland were willing.
Portland would rather keep Miles than trade Webster. he's on billboards around town. he is the new face of the Blazers. He is not going anywhere.
