A week ago there was a post about how DeShawn wants to come to Houston in a possible S&T. Well, today DeShawn opted out of his contract with the Magic which makes him eligible for a S&T to us. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2486348 Some hate it, some like it. Take it for what you will.
I saw this too. Interesting...but if we're talking about a trade of the #8 for the #11 and DeShawn, then no thanks.
Doubtful: http://www.82games.com/0506/0506ORL.HTM The plus/minus with this guy aren't so great. I think this is the anti-moneyball type of player.
IMO, I think it would be for the TE only. I think he would be a decent back-up for Mac, I don't want Bowen in there. I'm not expecting him to be a starter.
I think his point was that with a moneyball guy like Morey, we're not going to get stevenson. Whether or not he thinks stats are good or bad is irrelevant. What's relevant is the fact that Morey does like stats.
Keeping both Keith and DeShawn(TE) might not be so bad if we get them cheap. Those guys provide athleticism and perimeter defense.Sure we still need a power foward,a point guard, and shooters, but you have to start somewhere.
...and both have some possible upside.DeShawn much more so,but Bogans has battled injuries and played well for us in stretches.
Can this type of deal be made on draft day right before we pick? And if it's a sign and trade don't we have to send some salary back? If it's not a draft day deal I think it's stupid, because there's a chance one of those really good prospects slip to 8, no way any of them get to 11.
We cannot do a sign and trade deal on draft day. Players can't sign until July 12. So I doubt any deals will involved our draft picks. Teams don't usually draft for other teams with the intention of holding onto them until free agency starts. Too much can happen inbetween and you could be stuck with guys that you don't really want. Stevenson opting out doesn't really mean much. He's going to opt out any way regardless of whether he wants to be signed and traded. He'll get a better deal than the $3 million he's got left on his contract from somebody.
If getting Stevenson means moving down, then I'll pass. The guy is a terrible shooter and really doesn't do anything more than what Bogans can do, which isn't a whole lot IMO.
as m_cable it doesn't mean much. he needs to opt out to get the 5 mil he wabts regardless whether magic agree to it or not. the worst he can do is guarantee himself paychecks from the nba for a few more years .
I don't see what this guys brings us except a load of mediocrity. He has no outstanding skill. For big dollars.....no. I hope not.
So far in his career Stevenson has shown that he just isn't good enough fo ra championship contender Team.
Nice catch. I bashed the equation they used to determine what college players will do. They included stuff like height and weight. I don't trust those kind of stats to determine who will be good/not. However, the production of the team when your on the court vs. off the court does matter to me a little and like geeimsobored said, it isn't about me, but Morey. I like 82games for the NBA, but not for college players going to the pros. Their results didn't sit right with me. Look at the names that got really low grades like Adam Morrison. That's redickulous that Morrison would have a percentage chance of starting in the teens. He's probably the most NBA ready guy available. Does that explain things any better?
MARK MY WORDS: if the rockets sign deshawn, HE IS A BUST. i live in utah and i've been forced to watch him. bogans is twice the player at least!
I think Bogans would be a solid player coming off the bench for T-Mac. He only struggled when he was forced to start, and even then he was rebounding pretty well and dishing out some assists. If he can work on his shot, then we've got our backup SF.
Bogans can only get better when he's surrounded by a healthy team. I like him too. I like him better than Stevenson.
