He will be on in the 2 o'clock hour on the "Dan Patrick Show" on ESPN 790 station.

I won't be able to tune in, so if someone can capture the audio or recap it would be much appreciated...

thinks kobe is the best player in the nba. thinks nash, dirk, kobe, lebron should be considered for mvp, and kobe should win it.

defended LBJ against criticism. his willingness to pass at the end of the game makes it tough to send a second defender at him. contrast that with melo who took on 3 defenders for the last shot against the clipps in game 1.

said last year under rudy the lakers were winning at the same % as they did this season.

avery is well deserved for coach of the year.

carter didn't over shoot. you can't tell a shooter to stop shooting if they are good shots that are being missed. added that tracy's #'s go up in the playoffs, carters has usually gone down.

thinks marbury is a very good player. thinks he and larry can work it out. he and steve had battles about direction of his game. steve conformed and made the playoffs. marbury will probably do the same.

that's all i got, i might have missed the very beginning but he never got to talking about the rockets except for saying "when you win 34 games everyone gives you a hard time."

To be fair, it's not very hard to say something positive about someone who averaged 35.3 ppg and clearly carried the lakers, smush, Kwame, Odom and all to the playoffs.

This is what I don't understand about JVG. He praises players on other teams but, when it comes to his team, he points out all their faults. It's annoying to say the least and very discouraging to me as a fan. I have been sick of it for a while and almost want him gone for that reason alone.

He praised the whole rockets team for not giving up at the end of the season, and he said that he loved his team last year in the playoffs

    that's not allways the case.

even today he said that had it been tmac who shot 33 times in a loss, he wouldn't have said anything to him because you want those kind of players taking a lot of shots (if they are good shots). he said he never worried about tmac's scoring, esp. in the playoffs because he usually increases his #'s accross the board. carter on the other hand usually decreases accross the board and so that would worry him.

What are you talking about? JVG has gushed over Tracy & Yao at times. What other players on our team are praiseworthy? Did you forget we won only 34 games this year? There hasn't been very much to praise.

He praised Marbury. Does that mean we might trade for him?

Marbury is a Knick, but not a Knick from when JVG was there. He's a Knick that Isiah brought in and is probably the complete opposite of what JVG wants.

Look, I watched every game last season, along with the post-game comments. JVG, more times than not, pointed out what we did not do and commented on our defense. The problem never was our defense, it was always our offense. He would comment on small mistakes defensively, when there would be a 4 minute gap in between field goals resulting in our loss. You both can talk of what he has done now that the season is over but, JVG doesn't do it during the season nearly as much as he talks about our faults. Hell, it is mentioned in the article...

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/3795500.html

"Alexander is likely to tell Van Gundy that he expects him to no longer be as publicly critical of a team currently 26th in the NBA in home attendance and possibly to be more flexible with marketing efforts. He said he would never tell a coach how to coach a team."

Some will say that I am reading too much into that line, but if Alexander has to step in and tell him not to be as critical of the team, that in itself lets you know how much JVG criticizes the team. I'm not saying he doesn't ever speak highly of the team, but he doesn't do it nearly enough to compensate for how much he much he complains about the team.

Now, this article does go on to say that Alexander doesn't expect JVG to turn jovial after losses and neither do I. I only ask that JVG criticize what needs to be criticized, not the defense all the time when the offense was the biggest factor in losing.

Lol, what's funny is I know what you are trying to say, but it's not even funny. If you are going to try to be funny, please come better than that.

You don't get it do you? You can't praise your players or they might start believing the press and back off from working hard to get better. Its all about reverse phsycology...

Feelings and sensitivity have no place in sports, war or any form of competition

He said during the broadcast of a game (Det vs. Mil?) that a team should be built around durable players. :))
