Playoff is way out of reach. I say we sit Yao and lose every single game the rest of the season, for following reasons: 1) get a better pick 2) further rest Yao. He will have to play in the world chanpionship tounament games this summer. A bit extra rest now may make up some of the rest time he will miss in the summer. 3) keep playing him now does more bad than good. I can see teams playing 3-on-1 against him all night every single game because it is the surest way to beat rox by 20+ pts. He will either get frustrated or indifferent with lossing. He cannot further progress while playing like this. Nobody can while playing 2 3 guys all night only to see your teammates bricks again and again and again and again.... Playing on a ****ty team does not do him or us any good. 4) JVG deserves some humiliation. take yao out, our team cannot beat a WNBA team. they deserve to be whipped around. i am ****ing tired to watch them play. iam ****ing tired of seeing jvg get little heat at all. Injuries is not all the problem we have. 5) I will absolute no reason to watch another rox game this season. this will save me so much time and brain cells. I am just ****ing frustrated with the ****ty team we have. even if tmac and yao comes back healthy next seson, we have no hope doing great things with these ****ing clowns running around them two on the court.
I don't think that resting Yao is going to help his growth at all. NBA basketball is meant to be played for the entire 82 games plus the playoffs. He must fight to the end. He has to overcome hurdles and sitting won't help.
Yeah this is a bad idea you owe it to your fan base who has spent dam good money on tickets to play everyone who is healthy enough to play.
Hell no, then i'd have no reason to watch the rockets play. Also, people won't want to go to the games. Meh
as i explained, keep playing him this season will only hurt his growth. teams will put 3 guys on him from tip off now. He will be shut down game after game because our guys absolutely cannot shoot the ball well enough to help him out. That is hurdle he cannot overcome. It is not meant for anybody to beat 3 guys by himself. Playing in meaningless games like these, while risking him getting injured, risking him getting indifferent of lossing, does not make any sense to me.
But what happens if he does find a way to beat the double and triple teams? He'll become an even greater player. I really don't think playing Yao for the rest of the season will hurt his game.
Yao is a man. He doesn't give up. He didn't complain once about his toe, not once! Yao is about as soft as Charles Barkley's head. Let him take teams 1 on 5, if anything. That's almost what he's doing anyways. He'll learn to become a dominant force in time, and, when we get T-Mac back, well I need not say anymore because Mark Cuban might pee his pants thinking about it.
while i dont agree that we should sit yao for the rest of the season i do agree that we should give more playing time to guys that might have a chance to have an impact next year... guys like bogans, head, swift...and even throw in lampe and the new guy. i know head and bogans play alot but run plays though them a little more. head has been playing decently (forgetting about the turnovers), so give him the ball more and let him create.
Just a HORRIBLE idea... Ironic that people call T-Mac a quitter when he says he may sit out the last 5 games if we're out of the playoff hunt, but actually suggest that Yao sits out the rest of the season while totally healthy.
He got "shut down" for one game to the tune of 13 and 13 on the second half of a back to back. I don't think Yao's willing to concede hurdles he can't overcome, and I'm not either. I worry about the physical punishment, but I'm pretty damn happy to say Yao got triple-teamed, had an off game and got 13 & 13. In fact, I'm euphoric. Losing sucks, but as long as Yao doesn't sit on the bench and massage his head so TNT cronies pay pity to him ad infinitum, I trust him enough to handle it, grow from it and be a lot tougher than his head coach.
Yao will get plenty of time off, since we won't be in the playoffs. Anymore rest is going to be a negative for him.
learning how to beat 5 guys all by yourself is bound to fail. we shouldn't expect him to do that because it is not gonna happen. he cannot win games by himself. what if he injured himself in meaningless games like these? what if he gets tired of the whole team after another 10 losses in a row? the downside risk far outweight whatever you guys think we are achieving here. I was all for padding his stats for his progress, but let's admit it, he is not gonna be able to do much with 3 guys drapping on him all night long. yes he's had quite a few good games, but for most of these games opponents didn't double or triple team him before he gets the ball until 2nd half. Now they are gonna do it from very begining.
who called tmac a quitter? i absolutely support his decision not to return this season. i even supported him taking the season off to heal his back injury. don't make irresponsible comments like this.
Sure the time is getting tough by the day, but it's a bad idea to take Yao out for the season. He needs to sustain the grinding of NBA competitions and he has to learn to pace himself and play smart if his stamina starts to decline towards the end of the season. For all the recent talks about his newly found resolve to lead the team, this is the best opportunity for him to demonstrate he's truly the unstoppable force that we have long anticipated and finally got a chance to have a glimpse of. The only things that we hate to see are the unimaginative coaching of JVG and uncooperative teammates that could frustrate Yao. We know opponents can't stop Yao.
Better yet, lets not use him at all. The only time we should ever use him is in the playoffs. That way, next season, he can rest all season, and then when the playoffs come, he will dominate.
really? nobody is unstoppable if you are determined. Simply put three guys on him we won't even be able to make a pass to him. game after game, it has proved once opponents put 3 guys on Yao, we are out of the game. they were doing it in the 2nd half or the 4th quarter in the past few games. I say they were stupid. They should've done it from 1st quarter, then we would be blown out by half time, just like tonight.
Sitting down yao now will end the rockets season with 20 straight losses. Is this what the organisation want?? Yao still has stamina problem. The only way to improve it, is to let him play. Sitting the last 15 games or so, wont help him at all. To prevent injuries? Injuries are basically unavoidable, as long as you play, the chances of you getting injured are there. Even sitting yao now to prevent him to get injured does not gurantee he will no get injured this summer playing for the Chinese National Team. I said let yao continue to play 32-28minutes a game. Remember a few seasons ago when the suns traded Marbury and officially gave up the season? During that late part of season, the suns were basically developing Amare stoudmaire who ended the season with big games and high notes. The next season, Amare carried the momentum and became a beast. I will say, let yao do the same, keeping goin to yao, let him scores, let him beat the double/tripled teams and let him build his confidence. Yao is the future of the team. Play him will only do him good whereas sitting him, the organisation will gain nothing! Just my 2 cents!
