This deal seems to make a lot of sense for Denver, imo. Should make them stronger.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2341845

The Seattle SuperSonics have reached an agreement on a three-way trade that will bring guard Earl Watson back to the Sonics, who drafted him in 2001, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.

The deal, which is expected to be announced later Thursday, sends Seattle forward Reggie Evans and Portland swingman Ruben Patterson to the Nuggets.

Portland, in its ongoing quest for salary-cap relief, was eager to part with Patterson and acquire Denver guard Voshon Lenard (whose contract expires at season's end) and Seattle center Vitaly Potapenko (who has only one season left on his contract).

The Sonics also receive a future second-round pick from Denver in the deal, which has been sent to the league office for official approval.

We could've used both of those guys on this team.

Denver wins big with that trade. Seattle did well in it, and Portland took on crap to get rid of crap.

If the Nugs can resign Evans (much more affordable), Hilario is gone without a second thought.

Patterson/Melo would make a decent combo on the floor and compliment each others game well. For all the rocks in his head, Patterson makes for a decent bulldog on the court.

Seattle did okay. They needed another pg.

Denver, eh. They got some good backups, but they still haven't addressed what they really need(shooting).

I'm glad he's not and never will be on the Rockets.

Im just like you tiger. I've been screaming the guys name for a long time now. He could be our perimeter stopper and take pressure off of Mac.

We dont even try going for players that can help us like this.

Reggie Evans is a very limited player. The only things he can do are rebound and foul hard. Nene has a decent upside if he recovers from his injury and shows dedication to developing his game. If the Nuggets dump KMart this summer, who's gonna be their starting PF? Certainly not Evans, Evan.

We tried to get Artest, who would have helped a whole lot more than Patterson.

You are right about Evans. On the flipside, they've both been 20 mpg guys and you exchange a 10 and 6 guy for a 6 and 8 guy (almost 10 rpg last year in 23 mpg). Plus, with his injury, would you feel any more comfortable penciling in Hilario as your starting PF? He's yet to get past the "potential" phase.

I would think that if Martin gets moved, a servicable big would be part of the returning package. If, say, New York were to send over Taylor, Rose, or James, you could get by with Camby playing 35+, Hilario or Evans playing 20-25 mins, and the acquired Knick filling in 15-20.

Between Kenyon's spotty recovery with his knees and prior apparent ceiling of 15 and 7, I don't think it's that bad of a trade down in exchange for a bonafide starting 2-guard (12-14 ppg) and emancipation from that mistake of a max contract.

    35+ games?

Evans is a limited player -- as in limited to non-crunch time as he makes Shaq look smoooooth on the line.

All in all, good day for Nugs with this deal. And a deal where everyone seems to have 'won' what they needed to from it.

Denver just got a lot better, and a lot tougher. Say all you want about Evans, he is high energy and he creates havoc on the defensive end. Now, you put him on the floor with Camby, Patterson, and Anthony, you've got some tough D to contend with there buddy.

What was the bigger mistake, giving him a max contract, or trading 3 1st round picks to get him.

The picks were stupid, especially since I doubt NJ would've matched anyway.

But, so far those picks haven't become anything for the Nets outside of peripherals for the Carter trade (Toronto got two of them and passed one on to NY). The remaining pick is the Clippers unprotected first rounder this year, currently projected to be #24 in a weak draft. New York has this year's Den (proj #18).

The only player drafted from the picks right now is Joey Graham (6 ppg in 20 mpg), with the other two picks not especially exciting.
